Chapter 7 - Goodby

Izuku found Mei slightly smirking and covered in soot. He smiled and wrapped her in a hug from behind resting his chin on her hair. Over the years he grew taller then he though he would and ended up almost a head taller the Bakugo so he could comfortable rest his chin on Mei's head. "How did your exam go?" He asked as Mei giggled and pulled him into a hug. "I obviously passed there'd be insane to not want my babies. As I am the future CEO of Hatsume industries!" Izuku smiled as they started walking towards the train station. He told her about his exam and the kid who called him out in the auditorium. When they got off the train he walked her home and said hi to her father who was a head taller than him with the body of a body builder. They sometimes had flexing competitions with Mei and Inko as the judges when Inko felt up to having people over. Those were memories Izuku knew he would treasure forever. Giving a good by kiss to Mei he headed home hoping to just fall asleep and wait for the exam results.

When he got home he took off his shoes and made his way to his mother's room to check on her. Walking in he found her sitting up and starting at the setting sun. He sat next to her and leaned his head onto higher shoulder not saying anything. "I am sorry Izuku." Inko forced out choking on her words as tears started to fall down her face. He sat up and looked at her noticing a letter from the hospital in her hands. He knew what it meant, the treatments had stopped takeoff effect and his quirk wasn't helping either. He could feel the tears threaten to spill from his eyes but he wouldn't let them. His mother was the strongest person he knew. Through the horrors of his quirk to the struggles of an unfaithful husband she had dealt with it all. "H-how long?" He was almost scarred to ask. "Tonight." A word so final delivered in a time of weakness from the strongest women in the world.

Izuku held his mother close and told her about his exam and how he saved the girl. Then he laid her down and told her every story about him and Mei all of the times they played together the explosions of her babies and his talks with All Might. He told every story of the good he experienced with her, to make there last moments together the best they could be. It was around one in the mourning when she grabbed her sons hand. "Promise me Izuku, Promise me to be a hero. A hero who will protect everyone. Not a hero for the fame but a true hero. And don't let anything happen to Mei alright. She makes you happy and that's all that's really needed. Be happy for me ok?" Izuku clutched her hand and pressed it to his forehead. "I promise mom, ill keep Mei safe no matter what. And ill be the best hero for everybody out there. I love you, mom." a single tear escaped his eye. "I love you to sweetie." she said back as her hand went limp and the heart monitor gave a silent flatline. He stayed there for a minutes just sitting there.

They had the funeral the same day they got there admission letters. Izuku and Meu stood side by side over the coffin in the ground dressed in nice suites and dresses. Mitsuki Bakugo walked up beside them one of Inkos oldest friends. She placed a rose ontop of the coffin and put a hand on Izukus shoulder promising to talk later. Then it was just Izuku and Mei, they both pulled out there letters and sat down in front of the grave. "You go ahead and open it first. Its just a formality right." Izuku teased lightly as Mei smiled and opened hers up dropping a disc into her hand. Normally she would be vibrating out of her skin to get a look at how it worked. But now she was smiling at Izuku while the hologram of power loader appeared and gave her results.

"Hello Mei hatsume you ranked first in your written test scoring a 95%" he gave a quick nod and continued "You scored first in the practical portion. So I would like to welcome you to your support academia." he sighed and then started muttering about explosions and how he hoped they were a one-time thing. We both chuckled and Mei put hers away. Izuku stared at his for a moment but then Mei leaned her head on his shoulder giving him a side hug. Izuku remembered his mom's words and smiled at Mei, opening his letter the same disc fell out and a screen was projected. "I am here! As a projection." Izuku smiled at the image of his kind of mentor. All might was wearing a yellow striped suit custom-made to fit his size. "And you must be wondering what your results are! You ranked third in the written exam with a score of 92% very impressive!" His enthusiasm seemed right and wrong for the situation, but it was nice to hear some good news. "For your practical I am proud to say that you broke my record!" All might laughed as a number appeared on the screen next to him.

"You personally yearned a total of 70 villain points, then your double yeaarned another 78 villain points!" he seemed to be having to much fun with this as he showed some clips of his exam. "But that's not all! Were a hero school if we didn't give points for heroic actions what kind of school would we be! So with the addition of 68 rescue points you are at 148 villain points and 68 rescue points you are in first place with 216 points!!" he laughed a full belly laugh that filled my chest a smile playing on Izukus lips. "I will gladly welcome you to your hero academia!" All might held out a hand and the video cut out.

Emotions shoock in Izuku as he realized he was much closer to his goal then ever, and along with that the emotions of truly realizing that his mother was gone. And in that realization he realized he wasn't sad for her. She had been in pain for years and now she had a moment to rest. She would d be watching him on his journey. He dropped his disc into the hole his mother would be buried in and wiped away the tears that leaked out. He turned to Mei who was smiling sadly, he stood up with her and put a arm around her shoulder as they walked off. Sending one last look at the casket with a image of his mother before she was sick he reaffirmed his promise. He would keep Mei safe and be a hero like no other not a symbol but a Lord a lord of justice and peace. For he was destined to be the Elden lord.
