The black whirlwind kicked up a storm of dust as Black-Winged Dragon beat its massive wings against the air, descending onto the arena like an ink-black shadow.
Fujiwara's fingertips slid quickly across his Duel Disk, his voice flat and emotionless. "Yusaku, my combo is only just getting started."
His fingers stopped precisely over one zone, his gaze sharp as a drawn blade. "At this moment, I activate the effect of the face-up Continuous Spell, Black Feather Whirlwind."
"Once per turn, when I Special Summon a DARK Synchro Monster from the Extra Deck, I can target 1 'Blackwing' monster or 'Black-Winged Dragon' with lower ATK in my GY or that's banished, and Special Summon it."
His eyes swept across his Graveyard. A card bounced up from the tray with a soft click, and he smoothly slid it into a Monster Zone as the Duel Disk chimed to signal the effect's activation.
"Next, I activate the Normal Trap, Blackwing - Twin Shadow!"
A purple-black card snapped open in his Spell & Trap Zone, the image of twin shadows crossing in a storm-torn sky faintly glowing.
"If I control 2 or more 'Blackwing' monsters, I can activate this card directly from my hand without setting it first!"
"This card's effect lets me shuffle 1 'Blackwing' Tuner and 1 non-Tuner 'Blackwing' monster from my GY or that are banished back into the Deck or Extra Deck, then Special Summon 1 'Blackwing' Synchro Monster or 'Black-Winged Dragon' from my Extra Deck whose Level equals the total Levels of those 2 monsters. It's treated as a Synchro Summon."
At those words, the Takeuchi Dojo students on Yusaku's side of the stands froze for a second, then burst into an uproar.
"A Trap Card you can activate from hand without setting?! That's insane!"
"And it can Synchro using monsters in the GY or that are banished as material… this effect is basically tailor-made for Blackwings to explode onto the board!"
Hearing that, Kazetaro curled his lip, folding his arms as he leaned against the railing. "What's with the overreacting? That card can only summon Blackwing monsters. Its restriction is pretty heavy. Honestly, it feels worse than Red Dragon."
Kouki shot him a sideways glance. "You still have to successfully summon Red Dragon, though. And if this thing could summon any monster, it really would be broken beyond saving."
Down on the field, after reciting his card's effect, Fujiwara noticed Yusaku still standing there utterly unfazed, simply studying the monsters on his field. Fujiwara couldn't help but frown slightly.
"Looks like you're very confident in your deck. At this point, you really shouldn't be that calm."
Yusaku smiled lightly.
"This isn't confidence. I just believe in my deck."
"Believe in your deck?" Fujiwara gave a short, derisive laugh, a hint of contempt in his tone. "That 'Branded' deck of yours can't break through what I'm about to set up. In terms of combo ceiling and board pressure, we're not even in the same league."
Yusaku only smiled again and said nothing.
"Then my turn continues!" Fujiwara stopped wasting words and refocused on his field.
"The monsters on my field already satisfy the activation condition for Blackwing - Twin Shadow, so I activate it and shuffle my banished Level 4 Tuner, Blackwing - Shamal the Sandstorm, and the Level 6 Blackwing - Simoon the Poison Wind in my Graveyard back into the Deck!"
Fujiwara raised his arm high.
"Spirits dwelling in the depths of my Deck, bear the pride and power of the Blackwing clan, awaken from your slumber and clear away every obstacle in my path! Descend—Blackwing Full Armor Master!"
A colossal figure crashed down amid a blaze of golden light. Its entire body was clad in thick, matte-black armor, and when its wings spread, they blotted out the sky like a storm front. An overwhelming aura of dominance radiated from it, a presence that brooked no defiance.

"With 'Unaffected by other cards' effects' as its absolute protection, plus the ability to steal the opponent's monsters, and on top of that a board-wipe effect… this thing is basically the definition of invincible!"
"Yeah, that guy on the other side is really in trouble now. I honestly can't see how he's supposed to get over this monster!"
Hearing the voices from the opposite side of the stands, the students behind Yusaku all tensed up, their palms sweating.
The monster Fujiwara had just summoned really wasn't your average boss; both its protection and its effects were close to flawless.
Compared to the nervous crowd behind him, Yusaku looked completely relaxed. He stood there with his arms loosely crossed, calmly watching the field as if that monster causing a frenzy across the arena was no threat to him at all.
