"Captain still hasn't caught up with us. Could something have happened?"
While hurrying along, one of the seven Anbu who had left ahead finally voiced their concern!
"Trust the Captain. He'll definitely catch up!"
Another Anbu member replied calmly, showing considerable confidence in Captain Wolf!
"Yeah, that woman's strength is at most that of a jōnin. She's no match for Captain Wolf. The captain hasn't arrived yet because he must have been delayed by something else!"
"He's coming!"
Just then, the Konoha ANBU member bringing up the rear suddenly whipped his head around. Under their gaze, a blue-purple lightning bolt streaked toward them at terrifying speed!
"It's the captain..."
"Who's that?"
The seven ANBU instantly recognized the blue-purple lightning as Kakashi's signature, finally letting out genuine sighs of relief. But then they stared in shock at the ANBU in his arms. Could Kakashi's late arrival be connected to this ANBU?
Except none of them seemed to recognize this ANBU at all!
"It's that woman..."
"What? How could that woman be an ANBU member?"
As Kakashi approached with Natsume in tow, the ANBU members murmured in astonishment. Natsume had clearly been hostile, seemingly intent on killing Kakashi. This sudden reversal left them utterly bewildered!
"Let's go. We can't waste time here!"
"This is Hatsune. She's our new member, assigned by the Hokage himself!"
After appearing before the ANBU with Hatsune, Kakashi murmured quietly. The Chidori Feijue aura around him dissipated—his own chakra reserves couldn't sustain it long-term. He'd only activated it to conceal the Nine-Tails' chakra burning within him from the ANBU.
Whoosh!
After speaking, Kakashi swiftly moved forward, carrying Natsuhoshi. The ANBU exchanged glances and hurriedly followed. Though suspicious of Kakashi's explanation regarding Natsuhoshi's identity, they didn't question it further.
Half an hour later, Kakashi led the group to the Rocky Forest. They immediately went into hiding, waiting for the vanguard of the Cloud Village ninja to pass through this area!
By the time half a day had passed in their concealment, night had fallen. Countless stars, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, brightly dotted the entire sky!
As ANBU, Kakashi and his team remained utterly motionless throughout their concealment, their presence completely concealed. Even in the darkness, they didn't stir!
Natsuyuki, already a jōnin, had swiftly mastered advanced stealth techniques under Kakashi's guidance. Over this half-day, she was the most profoundly impressed!
For the first time, she witnessed the terrifying prowess of Konoha's ANBU—capable of lying motionless for half a day. This left her, who had shifted several times, feeling both ashamed and secretly resolved: she would not be outdone by Konoha's ANBU!
" Stay still. The enemy is approaching!"
Just as Natsuboshi had convinced herself the enemy wouldn't pass this way—or at least not at night—Kakashi's voice whispered softly in her ear, instantly jolting her alertness.
She snapped her gaze forward. Sure enough, a group of figures materialized, darting swiftly toward them. Yet as they entered the rocky forest, their movements abruptly halted.
"Everyone, be cautious! This place is perfect for an ambush!"
The lead Cloud ninja barked a warning before cautiously advancing with only two others. The rest remained behind, waiting until safety was confirmed before moving on.
The first three Cloud ninja swiftly passed through the boulder forest. Kakashi gave no signal to attack, allowing them to proceed unimpeded. This puzzled the nearby Summer Star—why not strike now that the enemy had passed?
The second group of three Cloud ninja advanced similarly. Observing their approach, Kakashi's brow furrowed slightly, yet he still let them pass.
The third and fourth groups of Cloud ninja also advanced cautiously in threes!
"Attack!"
When the fifth group of enemies still advanced in threes, Kakashi decided enough was enough. With nine ANBU members, including Natsuhoshi, they could only ambush three at a time. So three it would be! He immediately gave the order to strike!
Thud!
The moment Kakashi's command fell, the three Cloud ninja were instantly torn apart in the darkness. Five ANBU had been lurking around that spot, striking instantly. Those three were merely Chunin-level, unable to defend against such an assault!
"Enemy contact!"
"Charge! Damned Konoha ninja!"
Witnessing their comrades' deaths, the remaining Cloud ninja roared in fury, charging at the now-exposed Konoha ANBU!
Even those who had already passed through the rocky forest turned back to fight!
"Konoha ANBU..."
"Everyone, be extremely cautious..."
As someone recognized Kakashi's subordinates, a warning cry rang out!
"There are still 27 Kumogakure ninja left. We must eliminate them all here!"
Kakashi watched the battle unfold from concealment, silently calculating: nine against twenty-seven, including three jōnin-level Cloud ninja. Achieving this without casualties would be difficult. Their mission was stealth assassination—kill a few and retreat. Yet Kakashi was determined to eliminate them all!
At the very least, they must take down one jōnin before withdrawing!
"Hinata, take flight!"
Seeing the ANBU forces fully engaged and struggling to hold their ground, Kakashi immediately barked the order to Hinata before charging into the fray!
"Raiden: Electric Net Annihilation!"
The moment Kakashi entered the battle, he unleashed the technique. Lightning coalesced fiercely in his hands. Diving into the center of the battlefield, he slammed his palm onto the ground!
A spiderweb-like grid instantly spread across the ground, radiating out in a devastating ambush!
"Oh no..."
"This is bad..."
Seeing Kakashi unleash this technique, all the Cloud ninja were startled. Just the sheer scale of the array made it clear this wasn't some simple jutsu!
What truly shocked them was that it seemed to target even their own allies!
The Konoha ANBU were equally stunned, utterly bewildered by Kakashi's intentions!
Both the Cloud ninja and the Konoha ANBU simultaneously attempted to leap out of the way. Yet, aside from two Cloud jōnin, not a single one managed to jump high enough!
