For a moment, Marcella could only stare at her. She had assumed that, as the experienced head maid assigned to the princess, she would have a place in whatever arrangement Kiara was planning. She had even sought permission from Crown Princess Moira to become Kiara's vice head maid. Yet Kiara had dismissed her without hesitation.
Marcella opened her mouth, but no words came out.
Kiara's gaze suddenly sharpened.
"What are you waiting for? Scram!"
Marcella trembled at the sudden change in her tone. She quickly lowered her head and hurried after the other maids, no longer daring to argue.
Scarlett, who had watched the exchange from the sofa, reached over and gently patted Kiara's arm.
