Osric sat under guard in the same storage shed where the forced lock had first exposed his secret.
The door had barely closed behind the party when the argument began.
"He's a traitor."
One of Maren's council members stood near the entrance, arms folded, his voice carrying the certainty of someone who had already reached his conclusion.
"Two years of information passed to an Imperial agent. It doesn't matter why."
His eyes settled on Osric.
"It matters what."
"It matters both," Isole said.
The council member turned toward her.
Something in her tone stopped him from answering immediately.
"A man protecting his daughter from someone willing to hurt her without a second thought isn't the same as a man who sold you out for money."
"Tell that to Corl."
The words landed harder than the speaker probably intended.
Corl stood near the back of the room.
He remained silent.
