A day has passed since the interaction with Clair, and today is the day class officially starts, as well as the starting point of the novel.
As Darian walked down the corridor towards the lecture halls, he couldn't help but notice people's eyes on him. Ignoring everything, he opened the door of his classroom, meeting with more intense staring and more gossip between other students.
Under normal circumstances, both Kayle and Darian, who are about the same age, would have been sitting in a second-class classroom. However, while Kayle excelled in academics and maintained a strong record, Darian was quite the opposite. He rarely attended lectures and had a history of multiple suspensions due to behavioral issues. These problems eventually led to his verge of dismissal, forcing him to repeat his first year.
Damn it, Darian Min Jun cursed himself. "Well, it's better anyway, since everything in the novel starts with the first year in the academy. Moreover, it's better than seeing Kayle's face often as he is in his second year. "
As he reached the doors of the main lecture hall. Taking a deep breath, he pushed them open. The effect was instantaneous and predictable: more vicious and piercing looks from other students, and more chattering and gossiping. Amidst it, Darian looked around the classroom, and he could see many familiar faces that he read about in the pages of the Crimson Heart Folly, as well as some Min Jun encountered himself as Darian.
He walked toward the empty seat in the far corner at the back of the classroom, deliberately ignoring everyone else, and sat down.
Perfect, he mused as he leaned back. From here, I can see the entire board and everyone in the room, and no one can bother me. A safe spot indeed.
Darian was looking at the door as he knew what is gonna happen next in a minute, he waited and counted. " Three... two... one..."
The door creaked open slowly, and a girl stepped into the room. She had soft chestnut brown hair braided at the end of her hair. She had a round glasses on her face. Compared to the nobles around, she wasn't lacking anything in beauty; she looked like a minor extra and someone out of place, yet Darian knew who she was.
'Cry Baby Half-Wit', Elaine Blane, the protagonist of the novel, is the girl who will be the centre of everything that is gonna happen around this world.
Yes, the protagonist of the shitty novel has arrived! Darian mumbled to himself witha quirky smile.
Elaine looked around the room, she looked around and saw a seat which was empty at the front, and put down her book, which she was carrying with her on the table, adjusting her belongings, pen, ink bottle, and other things, but the peace lasted less than thirty seconds.
"What do you think you are doing in this seat, you lowly wench? Do you have any idea whose place you have taken, you unworthy scholarship bi*ch ?"
A group of three girls stood over her, the classic 'Villainous goons,' Min Jun mumbled, a group of mid-level nobles who are there to torment low-level nobles or commoners in every fantasy novel.
"Classic trope, isn't it!" In so many fantasy romances, the story can't seem to begin without the heroine being bullied, beaten, or otherwise put through some grim ordeal. Still, I suppose it's mild compared with what many other female protagonists endure in the opening chapters.
Darian looked closely for what gonna happen next.
Without waiting for an answer, one of them swept Elaine's inkpot off the desk. It shattered on the floor, splashing black ink across Elaine's skirt.
Elaine gasped, her eyes immediately welling with tears. "I-I'm sorry! I'll clean it up!"
Great, Great, Darian mumbled, leaning his chin on his hand. The bullying of the protagonist is the same as that in the novel, where she mistakenly took the seat of the villainess.
At the exact moment, the heavy door of the classroom opened like it was scripted, and another one of the most important characters in the novel stepped forward. Every single person in the room paid attention to the person. Finally, the Villainess Seris Korvinne has entered the scene.
Her striking reddish hair indicated her lineage from the Korvinne Dukedom. Her ice-cold, strict demeanor made her the perfect candidate for the fiancé of Kayle, as well as for the next empress of the Valenhardt empire.
Darian waited for the confrontation between the villainess and the protagonist to happen, as in the novel, Seris would have mocked her origin as a lower noble. starting the ill-fated relationship between them.
But the script broke, and what Darian was expecting didn't happen.
Seris didn't glance at the weeping girl who was standing on her seat. She walked away from her. She didn't speak a word and wasn't even bothered by what was happening; she bypassed the elites and others who were sitting on the front and locked onto the back.
Her red eyes looked deep into Darian.
Seris didn't even spare Elaine a glance as she stood there, her uniform splattered with ink. She didn't acknowledge the broken inkpot or the hovering goons; she didn't even insult her position of nobility nor helped her. Instead, her eyes immediately scanned the room, bypassing the elite front rows, and locked onto an empty seat in the back of the classroom.
What the hell is happening? Darian thought to himself, his breath hitched for a second, Did my interference with the novel somehow change the outcome of this scene? That I wasn't even supposed to be a major part of! Even if I have been making a little change in the novel, it wouldn't have interfered with a major scene like this. And my action happened at the Blayland Dukedom interaction with Faelynn, and other incidents don't have anything to do with the interaction between them.
Seris didn't look away. She maintained the intense, unreadable stare as she began to walk, not toward the front of the class, but toward the back of the class.
Min Jun didn't know what would happen. His mind was filled with different thoughts, but he knew one thing,
"The novel is changing, and he doesn't know what will unfold in the future."
