I went to school with a heavy heart. The teacher called me and asked
"Did you finish your homework?"
"Yes teacher i did" i said ,,
My cousin Yoo Na and I were in the same class. Me, Yoo Na, and Su Min had been best friends for over five years. After that, we sat together, trying to forget our worries and laugh like we always did.
But today, it felt different. The laughter didn't come as easily, and even Su Min's usual jokes couldn't make me smile. Yoo Na noticed and nudged me gently, whispering, "Hey, what's wrong?" I wanted to tell her, but the words got stuck in my throat.
I wanted to tell Yoo Na what was bothering me, but I couldn't find the words. So I just shook my head and tried to focus on the lesson. Su Min, sitting across from us, noticed my silence and frowned.
"Are you okay?" she asked quietly during a break. I forced a small smile and nodded, but my heart was still heavy. Yoo Na and Su Min exchanged worried glances, but neither pushed me. They knew sometimes I needed time to open up.
When the bell rang, signaling the end of class, we walked out together. The sunlight felt unusually warm today, almost like it was trying to cheer me up. I took a deep breath and promised myself that I would try to let a little of that warmth in. Maybe, just maybe, talking to my best friends would help.
We walked down the hallway to the entrance of the school, waiting for our school bus to pick us up. I thought I was being way too gloomy today. We got on the bus and sat at our usual spot with our other friends. We were laughing and playing, and when we reached my stop, I got off the bus and waved to my friends.
I entered my house, thinking it would be no different from yesterday, but it was very quiet. My little sister came to me and said, "Mom and Dad went to the supermarket. They'll be back soon.""Oh, okay. Is there anything to eat?" I asked."Yeah , Mom cooked spaghetti.""Did you eat?""I was waiting for you to return.""Then let's go and eat."
We ate lunch, and then I went to do my homework. Jin Ah was playing in the garden. Mom and Dad returned from the supermarket.
After finishing my homework, I went to sit by the window and watch the sky slowly turn orange with the setting sun. Jin Ah was still running around in the garden, laughing and chasing the butterflies. Mom and Dad were in the kitchen, unpacking the groceries and talking quietly.
For the first time today, I felt a small sense of peace. The house wasn't as heavy as it had been earlier, and being around my family even in small, ordinary ways felt comforting. I realized that no matter how hard things got, there were always little moments that could make everything a little brighter.
