Without wasting any more time, Calen immediately carried Roxanna away from the ravine. The roar of Demon Fenrir grew louder, and cold wind blew strongly from within the abyss.
Calen wrapped a piece of cloth around Roxanna's bleeding arm, making sure not a single drop of blood touched the ground. Once they were out of Fenrir's territory and the sound of cicadas returned, he brought her into a small, empty cave.
"We need to cover ourselves with mud first," Calen said. "Then we can go home."
Roxanna let out a tired sigh. "It would be much easier if it suddenly rained. Our scent would be completely washed away."
As soon as the words left Roxanna's mouth, the sky seemed to answer her wish.
Rain came crashing down without warning. It wasn't a gentle drizzle, but a sudden, violent downpour. Thick sheets of rain slammed into the forest, soaking the ground in seconds.
Roxanna froze for a moment, then let out a shaky laugh. "Did I… jinx it?"
