Shawn sat back in his chair, looking at his profile again. The photo on the profile definitely did not look human. He touched his cheek, and his eyes blinked as Aisha continued her explanation.
"Hmm... so I really am an alien, even if my face looks human," Shawn thought to himself, rubbing my cheek.
Then he turned to look at Gaia below the spacecraft, which looked very blue and similar to Earth.
"Hey, Aisha," Shawn said, cutting off her explanation.
"How can I help you?" Aisha asked, stopping her explanation immediately.
"Can I go down there?" Shawn asked.
"Before that, please view the following broadcast," Aisha replied curtly.
A large holographic screen opened again. The display showed the process of evolution that occurred on Planet Gaia. Shawn got drowsy watching it because he didn't understand, but then, when human civilization emerged, starting from the Stone Age, Shawn began to pay attention. Even from the Stone Age, there were already superhumans—people who could shoot lasers from their eyes, use telekinesis, and so on.
Civilization developed, moving from the Iron Age, the Bronze Age, the Middle Ages, the age of technological transition, and finally reaching technology equivalent to the Earth he knew. Everything seemed to be a repeat of Earth's history from the beginning. The only difference was the presence of superhumans who helped save humanity from natural threats, alien creatures, mutated monsters, and even from other humans. "Hmm... I see. I don't get the technical stuff, but all I know is they're bad guys and they need to be wiped out. Do you think I'm strong enough to fight them?" Shawn asked excitedly.
"Of course. An Angel is a special life form created to preserve humanity on the new planet and to be their protector and overseer," Aisha replied.
"Good. Get me down there, fast," Shawn said, standing up.
"You will be deployed with the others, so please be patient for a little while. They will wake up soon," Aisha replied.
"Hmm... I see. Are they the same as me? The girl I saw earlier was unclear because of the fluid," Shawn asked.
"All of them are the same as you and have more or less the same background as you," Aisha answered.
"Screech," suddenly the cockpit door opened. Shawn turned and his eyes widened, seeing a girl with silver hair long enough to reach the floor. Tentacles were wriggling on her back. She was beautiful, though her eyes were yellow and her skin was pale or grey, like a grey alien. The girl was wearing the same clothes as Shawn and also had the same metal bracelet. She appeared to be the same age as him and looked confused, taking in everything in the cockpit room, her mouth hanging open.
Shawn immediately approached the girl in front of him and examined her, while she also examined him. Suddenly, the girl covered her body and turned sideways, her face visibly angry at Shawn with her eyebrows furrowed in the center.
"What are you looking at?" the girl said.
"Pleased to meet you, I'm Shawn," Shawn said, extending his hand.
"Oh... okay. My name is Nora, nice to meet you. Where the hell are we? As I recall, I was sentenced to death and... died. Why am I suddenly alive again?" Nora asked.
"Hmm, you were executed too, huh?" Shawn muttered.
"Yeah, you too?" Nora asked, staring at Shawn, her eye blinking with the side-to-side lid.
Shawn briefly told her about himself. After hearing Shawn's story, Nora then told her own story. It turned out Nora was a doctor who secretly conducted research on humans to create biological weapons for warfare, secretly and silently using criminals in prison as test subjects who, according to her, deserved to die because their sentences didn't fit their crimes. But because her practice was discovered—too many criminals were dying in various prisons from unclear, sudden causes—and she was also accused of abusing her authority as a government doctor, her actions were deemed inhumane. "Hoo, Angel of Greed, huh?" Shawn murmured, smiling.
"And you're Angel of Wrath," Nora replied, smiling.
Finally, the two shook hands casually. After that, they walked to the front of the cockpit and sat down. Nora's eyes widened, looking at Planet Gaia below.
"Wow, we're in space and that planet... Earth? Wait... the continents look different and... it seems kind of off, right?" Nora asked.
"The planet below is named Gaia, and you are currently on the USS Frontier space carrier," Aisha suddenly answered.
"Wow... this is another planet? Is there life down there?" Nora asked enthusiastically.
Aisha immediately explained everything from the start to Nora, who listened with excitement, forgetting that she was no longer human. Then, after she was briefed on the Angels, she was shocked but thrilled, and looked happy. Shawn yawned, bored from having to listen to Aisha explain everything again.
When the footage showed the superhumans below acting outside the law and doing whatever they pleased, Nora's face broke into a wide smile, and her eyes narrowed as if she desperately wanted to dissect those superhumans and do experiment on them.
Nora immediately turned to look at Shawn, who was sitting back casually with his feet up and his arms behind his head, staring at Planet Gaia below him.
"Let's go down, Shawn," Nora urged, excited.
"I wanna go down too, but we have to wait for the others, right?" Shawn asked without taking his eyes off Planet Gaia.
"Oh, right," Nora muttered, turning to look at Gaia below her.
"Screech," suddenly the cockpit door opened again. Shawn and Nora turned to look at the door. Two more people entered, one man and one woman.
"Okay, more people woke up," Shawn murmured, smiling.
