CHAPTER 2 – THE TRUTH
Reigh learned to walk when he was only 5 months and could say a lot of words when he was only 5 months. His mother was shocked, and she believed Reigh was a genius. However, she didn't send her son to preschool early because she didn't want her son to be stressed from studying while the others were still playing.
Reigh's mother loved to try anything new when she was free. She also loved to cook everything that was edible and good for Reigh. She was busy the whole day doing the house chores, but she would always find time to play and accompany Reigh.
One day, Reigh was playing, and a box of wood fell towards him. Reigh's mother ran towards him to check whether he was hurt or not, but she found out that her son not only didn't get hurt, but the wood had some cracks. She started to realize that her son was not normal, but due to her love towards her son, she wasn't afraid of him and tried to keep this from her husband and Reigh, because she thought that if she didn't tell Reigh, he wouldn't know about his own power. Reigh's mother didn't decrease her love for Reigh, and she was still willing to do anything in order to make sure Reigh wouldn't get hurt.
However, one day when Reigh was five years old, Jraneo asked Sheilla whether she knew anything weird about Reigh.
"Sheilla, do you feel anything weird about Reigh?"
"Weird? I don't know if this could be considered weird or not, but if I have to say, I would say this is magical, maybe?"
Sheilla told Jraneo that Reigh was able to say many words and even a complete sentence when he was five months.
"No, I'm not talking about this. I'm talking about… well, that's nothing."
"What, bae, is there anything that happened to Reigh?" Sheilla asked Jraneo with doubt.
"I'm not sure whether you know about this or not, but Reigh has something weird about him. Do you remember that he found a little kitten that was dead in the storeroom?"
"Ya, and we bought him candy to praise him."
"Ya, and do you still remember that a ball stopped before getting to hit you?"
"Did something like that happen? I have no memory about that. When did it happen?"
"Okay, that's not the point. You know, our son Reigh may have possessed something that a human shouldn't have."
"Wait, bae, what are you really trying to tell me about this? I don't get it."
Jraneo told Sheilla that there was a weird event happening in the town and it had been happening for about eight months.
He told Sheilla that a person died every day, and it started happening after the day they celebrated Reigh's birthday there.
Sheilla seemed to know what Jraneo was trying to tell her, but she did not believe it.
"How could a child do this? What happened to you, bae?"
Jraneo told Sheilla that a villager said he saw Reigh at the town yesterday night and was smiling, but the point is yesterday they didn't bring Reigh to the town at all. "Initially, I didn't believe it, but he showed me the picture. I have worked at town for so many years and I know it very well that there is no one who resembles Reigh in the town."
Sheilla's eye was full of tears, but she still believed in her son and asked Jraneo whether that person in the photo was a new tourist or what. Sheilla knew her son might not be a normal person. Yet, she still didn't believe that her son would kill any person.
"Sheilla, listen to me. I know this is something unreasonable, but the village chief said that this village is in danger as long as Reigh is still alive. They—"
Sheilla stopped Jraneo from what he wanted to say as she saw Reigh hiding in the corner there.
Reigh walked toward them and said, "I didn't do anything, it wasn't me. I was in the bed last night."
"I believe you, son. Mum believes in you."
Jraneo soon found out that his house had been surrounded because of his experience as a bodyguard. He immediately pulled Sheilla out of the house and shouted for help. The village chief ordered the villagers to protect Sheilla and asked the others to throw fire onto the house.
Still, Sheilla managed to run into the house again. Jraneo shouted for them to stop because he didn't want his wife to get caught in this big fire. Jraneo didn't care about the fire that was covering him, and he shouted for Sheilla.
In another scene, Sheilla asked Reigh to run away, but Reigh looked worried about his mother. Sheilla said that they wouldn't hurt her as she had always been good with them.
When Jraneo found Sheilla, she was only alone. Reigh was nowhere. Jraneo knew that Sheilla had told Reigh to run away, but he didn't bother much as he thought that Reigh was at a disadvantage in his small physical body. He asked Sheilla, "Why do you want to help him? He is not a human. If you go on like this, everyone will think that you are the same as him."
Sheilla grabbed her fist but she couldn't do anything as she knew that her husband was serious right now. She pretended to obey her husband's word and looked for a chance to run away from here. But she didn't know that her husband saw through her mind. When she got out from the village she pushed her husband away, but her husband acted before her and pinned her down.
Reigh tripped down and bumped his head, but he didn't care about it as he remembered his mother told him to run further from the village and the town. Sheilla also said that she would catch up with Reigh soon. After a period of time, Reigh stopped his step and looked back. He didn't see his mother 's sight till now. He thought his mother maybe had abandoned him away, but he still chose to believe his mother. He waited at the same place and ate some fruit when he was hungry. Until the late night, he slept because he was too tired. When he woke up, he still didn't see his mother.
Reigh decided to go back and look for his mother. Reigh went back even though his mother told him to keep running because he didn't see his mother till the next morning. He was too scared to think that his mother would be like the others and chase him away, but what he found out when he arrived was that his mother was tied in the hall and being thrown by the stones. He hid nearby trembling and heard them say that Sheilla let the monster out of this garden. Reigh knew the monster meant him.
"Sheilla deserves death sentence."
"Sheilla is so wicked."
"Why do you want to let the monster get away?"
"Since your son is a monster, you must be a monster too."
"You are an evil witch."
"Kill her fast and go look for the monster."
Reigh couldn't understand what wrong he had done. He was in the bedroom every day. How could he kill someone when he was not around there? Reigh knew that this was not the truth, but he couldn't do anything. He wanted to save his mother, but he was aware that he couldn't. But a strange voice ran through his brain:
"You can save your mother if you want. As long as you want, I'll help you. So think about it carefully, whether you want to live a life where the silly misunderstanding causes your mother to die, or you want to live a life that is peaceful."
Reigh was angry and his skill was released again. He saved her, but this time he was not binding the time but restraining the movement of their heart. He hated all of them and wanted to kill them to save his mother.
Soon all of the people there except his mother and him started to feel the pain. All of them looked in pain and were struggling. Sheilla knew this was Reigh. She shouted for Reigh to stop because she didn't wish Reigh to be what the others called.
Reigh came out and cut the rope. Reigh spared their life and brought his mother out of the village and disappeared from sight.
After Reigh and his mother ran out from the village, his mother was almost dead. Reigh begged for his mother to stay conscious until they managed to find a hospital down the mountain. Reigh suggested his mother lie down on a wood so he could pull his mother. But when they got down the mountain, his mother was dead. Reigh was speechless and didn't know what to do. He kept on telling his mother to wake up. "Mum, wake up, please don't leave me alone, I'm scared. Please…"
Reigh stayed there with his mother till the next morning. Reigh decided to take revenge. After he buried his mother's corpse, he went back to the mountain. During the evening, Reigh finally arrived at the village. What he saw was nothing but as usual.
"Why are all of them pretending like nothing happened? It was yesterday that something big happened. How could they live so harmoniously after they abused my mother like that?"
Reigh stared at them with hatred. "It shouldn't be like this." Reigh's anger led his card to be activated and he restrained everyone from moving and picked up a wooden stick.
After Reigh went out from the village, Reigh's wooden stick was full of blood. Reigh was put down by tiredness. The day was already morning when he woke up. He felt hungry when he got down the mountain.
