Chapter 118 - Mutant Battle, Base Infiltration

The booming sounds kept coming from under his feet; it was the sound of Mutants and soldiers exchanging fire. Facing the gates secretly opened by Wanda and Pietro, the Mutants launched a near-frantic, fierce attack. Under their bizarre and varied abilities, General Stryker's army was retreating step by step. They had to use high-powered weapons to delay the Mutants' advance.

However, the Mutants had a Master of Magnetism. Before him, whether it was flying shrapnel or a barrage of bullets, they were as docile as harmless kittens. The soldiers' weapons couldn't cause any harm to the Mutants at all.

Watching the Mutants break through the base like a hot knife through butter, the soldiers blocking the way fell in droves like cut barley. Finally, someone, intimidated, dropped their weapon and took a step back. But before they could take that step, a bullet pierced their head.

A dark mass of people was led by Stryker's Adjutant, appearing behind the soldiers. Facing the soldiers, who were already too scared to fire, the Adjutant frowned and waved his hand. At his signal, the figures beside him immediately pushed aside the congested soldiers and charged towards the attacking Mutants.

Leading the charge was a burly Bald Giant. The moment he broke out of the soldiers' ranks, his body began to grow larger, with granite-like textures appearing on his body and layering up. When he had run less than thirty yards, he had become a giant humanoid stone.

His body was a full ten feet tall, and every step he took brought a huge vibration. That represented his heavy weight. What was most surprising was his speed; his huge body was not as clumsy as it appeared, but quite the opposite. His momentum was astonishing, and in an instant, his massive body had charged into the center of the battlefield.

The giant body, carrying terrifying kinetic energy, landed on the ground like a cannonball. The surging air waves even blew some of the people around him into the air. The most miserable, however, was the unlucky Mutant under his feet, who had no time to react to his rapid impact and was directly hit head-on.

Nearly ten thousand pounds of mass fell on him, and the pressure released directly tore his body apart. As a Mutant, his body was far stronger than that of ordinary people, and as a physical mutation Mutant, he was even stronger than many of his kind. But in the face of such an impact, he had no other outcome.

The ground was instantly covered in a blinding red. The carpet-like spread beneath the giant stone man's feet was enough to make anyone lose their appetite. This was the first Mutant to die since the start of the battle, but definitely not the last.

The giant stone man continued his charge, swinging his arms, which were a full four feet thick, like he was swinging a baseball bat, clearing everything in front of him. In front of him, the weaker Mutants didn't even have a chance to stand.

But he hadn't gone far when something round and plump pounced on him. It was a somewhat deformed Mutant. His entire body was plump and massive, and he generally had a strange, gelatinous appearance, making him look like a balloon filled with slime. And, the most dangerous kind.

This was evident from the nickname his companions gave him: Acid Blob.

The fat body crashed into the giant stone man and didn't bounce off as many had expected. Instead, it instantly lost its shape like a mass of sticky glue, wrapping around the giant stone man.

The stone man swung his body violently, but it had no effect on the gelatinous liquid on him.

And the yellowish-green liquid emitted a choking smoke the moment it touched the stone man's body, followed by a continuous flow of disgusting, yellow, foamy pus. That was the liquid produced by the high-strength acid corroding the stone's surface. And the strength and speed of this corrosion were beyond everyone's imagination.

The giant stone man's body was visibly eroded. His head, enveloped in the acid, let out a painful, low-pitched scream, but soon the heavy bass was completely swallowed up by the yellowish-green liquid on the ground. Not even a trace of his huge body remained.

After annihilating his own kind, the liquid began to recede bit by bit, gradually revealing a human silhouette. His face still bore the joy of victory. However, at this moment, an extremely dazzling beam of light tore through the battlefield and landed on the recent victor.

The intense beam possessed almost terrifying destructive power; high-intensity particle streams could pulverize nearly all obstacles. And when its master showed no restraint, this destructive power became even more potent and horrifying.

The Acid Blob's expression was frozen at the moment of his victory. Then, under the impact of this torrent of light, his liquid body was utterly reduced to ashes, vanishing into nothingness.

Seeing this terrifying beam, many people's expressions changed. But the most disbelieving were a group from the academy. Ororo covered her mouth, and Beast nearly crushed his own fist. But this couldn't change the facts. Cyclops, Scott Summers, had become a weapon controlled by the other side.

The battle between the Mutants also became more brutal and frenzied with the intervention of Charles's beloved disciple.

Beast directly pounced toward Cyclops. His agile speed allowed him to avoid Cyclops's laser attacks the instant Scott looked at him, but on this complex battlefield, getting close to the ranged Cyclops wasn't easy.

Storm also took to the air, and howling winds and blizzards immediately surged within the base. The super-low temperature of the frigid air currents swept over everyone, taking away their precious body heat. For Mutants, this temperature was still bearable, but for humans, this temperature was slowly taking their lives.

As one of the few Mutants capable of controlling the weather, Ororo's abilities were enough to change the nature of a battlefield. On this battlefield, the Mutants with higher evolution clearly had the advantage, while humans couldn't even participate in the fighting.

This is a war between Mutants, and the identities of both sides in this battle that decides the survival of Mutants are simply laughable and pathetic. Every Mutant who still has a sense of self and reason feels an unspeakable sorrow, but they cannot hold back any of their strength against their opponents. This is the moment that will decide the survival of the race, just as Magneto said. Everyone must be prepared to make sacrifices.

The fighting continued, but Magneto focused his attention on the humans who had begun to retreat. The Adjutant, who was carrying out General Stryker's mission, was his target.

He held back Quicksilver, who was eager to move, and said to Wanda and Pietro.

"Don't worry about here, our objective is inside."

Quicksilver glanced in the direction he indicated and saluted knowingly. Then he pulled Magneto and Scarlet Witch with him, turning into a silver blur, and entered his time stream.

And shortly after Quicksilver and the others disappeared, Zhou Yi's figure appeared there. He first glanced at Storm and the others who were still fighting, and then turned his gaze to the direction Magneto and his group had left. After hesitating for a moment, he started walking in the direction Magneto had gone.

"Little man, can you do me a favor?" As he made a move, a voice called out to him. Hearing this voice, Zhou Yi turned his head and looked at Mystique, who was walking towards him, and tilted his head slightly.

"Can you take me with you?" Raven seemed to see Zhou Yi's doubts and immediately explained.

"Don't you want to help your comrades? They seem to be in a tough battle!" Mystique gestured towards the battlefield, where the Mutants were locked in a fierce struggle, making it difficult to tell which side had the upper hand.

"My battlefield isn't here, little charmer!" Mystique was as alluring as ever in front of Zhou Yi. "I think you should know that I can't be of much use here. Only inside can I play a bigger role."

Mystique was a shapeshifting enchantress, the world's best infiltrator, a true master spy. Perhaps in terms of combat, she couldn't be of much help. But when she penetrated the enemy's ranks, the damage she caused was sometimes more terrifying than that of Mutants with powerful combat abilities. Zhou Yi had to admit this.

So he fell silent for a moment, picked up the enchantress, and followed Magneto in the direction he had left.

In the chaotic battlefield, perhaps no one would notice the disappearance of these few people. They all had their own enemies, and almost everyone's attention was focused on the desperate battle in front of them. Under such circumstances, they couldn't pay attention to anything else.

But there were always exceptions. Wolverine Logan's attention had never been here. With his immortality, he was extremely indifferent to the battle in front of him. An indescribable palpitation of the heart always kept him in a daze. Although this didn't affect his fighting, it made him instinctively feel that something was wrong.

He subconsciously looked around, although what he saw were all unfamiliar scenes. But there was a strange sense of familiarity welling up in his heart. He knew this was the feeling brought to him by his lost memories, and this feeling made him start to stir.

Until he saw Magneto and Zhou Yi leave, almost instinctively, he forced his current opponent away, a few leaps and rolls, and far away from the chaotic battlefield. Then he came to the place where Magneto and the others had left, and followed their scent to search.

He felt it. He had to keep up with these people. He felt the call of his lost memories. He had a feeling that he could find answers to everything here, that all of his past would come to an end here.
