Chapter 114 - The Truth of the Crisis: Master of Illusion

However, the presence of a threat didn't mean fear. Zhou Yi, with an unnamed fire burning in his heart, kicked off the ground and charged directly at the woman in red. Compared to the guy called Peter, he was the true supersonic speedster. Breaking through the air and the sound barrier, the instantaneous impact was almost as terrifying as a large-yield explosive going off.

However, a distance of less than ten meters became an insurmountable chasm. Zhou Yi was charging at an incredible speed, feeling the flow of air, the release of kinetic energy, and exhibiting all the signs of supersonic movement, but he still couldn't touch the woman's body.

There was always this distance between them; ten meters seemed to become ten light-years, an unreachable distance.

Halting his movement, Zhou Yi scanned his surroundings. The chaotic red mist permeated their surroundings, making everything seem unreal.

"What did you do?" He stared directly at the woman's captivating crimson eyes, his cold expression almost as sharp as a blade.

"I just did some insignificant little things." The woman in crimson smiled, red mist swirling around her, making her appear almost illusory.

"Dawn Knight, I may not be your match. But don't even think about defeating me. So, why don't we sit down and talk?"

"I have nothing to talk about with my enemy." Zhou Yi clenched his fists, looking at Magneto standing behind the woman. The last time he was forced to the brink of death by Magneto had already determined their enemy status. If it weren't for Peter, who could accelerate time, rescuing Magneto, the mutants might have lost one of their most important leaders.

"You'll want to talk to us, won't you? Or rather, you'll cooperate with us, Dawn Knight. Because it concerns the people most important to you, like, for example, these two ladies, and your sister!"

Magneto, breaking free from Peter's support, spoke. He didn't want anyone to see him looking so weak. That wasn't fitting for him.

"Are you threatening me?" Golden flames once again ignited from Zhou Yi's fist. He didn't like being threatened, especially when it involved the things he cared about most.

"This isn't a threat, it's just stating a fact. Things are rapidly approaching a critical moment. Once our enemies' plan succeeds, the people I just mentioned will all die, and they'll only be a tiny part of those who perish. This is a great crisis for mutants, and we need your help, Dawn Knight."

Magneto stepped forward, facing Zhou Yi directly. In the face of the mutant crisis, he would choose to abandon everything to gain the help of everyone who could assist them, even at the cost of his own dignity.

"Consider it a request, Dawn Knight. Help us! If you agree, I can give up my life."

The mutants were already moved by Magneto's terms. To request someone to save their race at the cost of his life was something they simply couldn't do. And that was precisely Magneto's charm; he was someone who could truly give everything for his race.

So, even if his methods were extreme, countless mutants were willing to follow him. Because for the mutants, he was the revolutionary and guardian of this group. It was he who, with blood and sacrifice, was leading them to pursue everything they dreamed of.

Zhou Yi stood silently in place. Everyone around him focused their attention on him. Whether it was Ororo and Jean, or Magneto and the strange sibling duo beside him. They were all watching him. His decision at this moment concerned the survival of mutants, and it was precisely because of this that they were so tense.

"Tell me, how do you need me to help you?" After a long silence, Zhou Yi finally released his clenched fists. He didn't care about Magneto's conditions, but he had to care about the survival of the mutants. Because among the mutants was someone he cared about the most.

Magneto finally breathed a sigh of relief, and for a moment, he even felt unsteady on his feet. This made him feel the ruthlessness and terror of time. But he still mustered his spirit and explained.

"Wanda, Peter, and I found something strange at Xavier's Mansion. Those people don't seem to be targeting Charles' students, but rather a machine. A machine I created—the Mind Amplifier."

"No one knows its function better than I do. For almost all the ability users in the world, it can only play a certain amplifying role, but there is one exception, and that is my old friend, Charles Xavier."

"Charles?" Zhou Yi murmured this name, and all the scattered clues had gradually formed a complete train of thought in his mind. He felt that he was getting closer and closer to the truth. Only the most crucial piece was missing.

"No one knows my old friend better than I do. His power is beyond everyone's imagination. But due to his own cowardly thoughts, he has sealed away the great power of his talent. And the Mind Amplifier is what I made for him, a key to unlock his infinite power."

"It was the theory I proposed." Beast Hank couldn't help but speak, he always opposed Magneto, it had been like this since a long time ago.

"Yes, Hank, this was the theory you proposed, and it's also proof of your brilliant mind. But look at what you've become. This is the price you pay for wanting to escape the fate of a mutant. Being a mutant is a right bestowed upon you by God, not something you can easily abandon."

Chuckling, Magneto looked at Beast Hank. In Magneto's eyes, this fellow mutant was almost like a clown, making him laugh.

Hank emitted a low growl, Magneto's mockery causing his blue fur to bristle. He looked like a giant blue beast on display. However, Magneto wasn't worried at all about his actions. Hank was a smart man, and a smart man's biggest weakness was that he was always suppressed by his rationality, controlling all his impulses.

Watching Hank, his body almost trembling, retracting his claws and fangs, Magneto wore a disdainful smile as he continued his topic.

"The infinite power my old friend possessed was only displayed before me once, a moment I'll never forget. All beings with independent minds in the world appeared before him, like puppets waiting to be controlled. He was like a god, dominating all life. If he wished, he could even change the course of the world in an instant, controlling everyone's thoughts."

Speaking of this, Magneto couldn't help but wave his arms. In his imagination, what terrifying power this was! Achieving his dream of a mutant world was merely a thought away for Professor Charles. However, his expression soon became gloomy, a kind of betrayal and sorrow appearing on his face.

"But Charles actually told me that this power shouldn't belong to the world. That people's souls shouldn't be manipulated, and their thoughts should have their own freedom. A strong man who stood above the entire world actually held such a boring idea, and he even sealed his own abilities, banishing them to the deepest part of his mind. This is simply an unforgivable mistake."

Looking at the tangled and painful expression on Magneto's face, Hank's face revealed a smile of satisfaction.

"This is the difference between you and the Professor. You always resort to violent coercion to force others to accept your ideas, but the Professor doesn't. He only allows others to truly agree with his viewpoints, to genuinely accept them from the heart. You'll never be able to compare to the Professor, Erik. You're just a madman and a thug controlled by power."

"Perhaps, dear Hank. But you must know, we might be facing your beloved Professor right now, my old friend." Magneto Erik's aged face showed a mix of sorrow and helplessness as he muttered to himself. "I wonder if you'll regret it, my old friend. That my ideas were once used against your own people is truly a cruel joke of fate."

Hearing this, Zhou Yi finally sorted out all the clues. And when he pieced together all these clues, he had to admit how terrifying and profound General Stryker's plot was for revenge.

Kidnap Professor Charles, use the Mind Amplifier to unlock his sealed mental powers. Then, control him to manipulate the minds of everyone in the world. By then, both mutants and humans would become pawns to be toyed with at will.

And this was only looking at General Stryker from the perspective of an ambitious man. However, he wasn't an ambitious man. He was a crazier and more extreme avenger. For the sake of revenge, he could do even more terrifying things, such as annihilating the minds of all mutants, completely erasing them from the world.

"Impossible, Professor Charles wouldn't agree to do that. And no one can force him to do so." Zhou Yi shook his head, unwilling to believe his own deduction. And, he came up with a reason. An unbreakable reason.

Since Professor Charles, who was almost like a saint, could resolutely give up his own power, how could he be forced to accomplish such a thing, the destruction of his own kind? He was the most powerful psychic in the world. Also, one of the people with the strongest inner world that Zhou Yi knew.

As long as he didn't want to, no one could force him. His mental strength was enough to render any opponent helpless against him.

"I also know how firm Charles' will is, and I also know that no one can force him to do such a thing. However, I'm not worried about someone forcing him. I'm worried that he might achieve our enemies' goals without even knowing it. This is entirely possible because they hold a trump card."

Magneto spread his hands, telling the Dawn Knight his final guess, the most terrifying one.

Zhou Yi instantly felt a bitterness in his mouth. He knew that since Magneto dared to say this, there must be a reason. But he still asked, unwilling to give up.

"Who has the ability to make Charles do such a thing?"

"Jason Stryker. William Stryker's son. A guy who can create illusions and cloud minds." Beast Hank took over the final question. "We call him the Master of Illusion."
