Chapter 110 - One Man Against the Pass, Invasion Thwarted

Two heavily armed special forces soldiers crept up to a door. One of them took a grenade from his chest and gestured to his companion.

His companion nodded in understanding and began a countdown. Three fingers clenched into a fist one by one. He kicked the door open, and the special forces soldier holding the grenade seized the opportunity to throw it inside.

The grenade had barely left his hand, and the two hadn't even reacted to evade. A hand suddenly pierced through the space between them, firmly gripping the grenade. Then, a loud BOOM erupted.

The grenade exploded violently. The shrapnel, propelled by the force of the explosion, was no less deadly than bullets fired from a gun. At such close range, the soldiers' bodies, even clad in tactical vests, were virtually defenseless. In an instant, the shrapnel pierced through their bodies, and the intense blast sent them flying like ragdolls.

Zhou Yi, who had caused all this, apathetically clapped his hands, straightened his clothes, and pushed open the now battered door. As for the two special forces soldiers, their deaths didn't move him in the slightest.

As a superhero, he could risk his life to save the innocent. But for these executioners whose profession was slaughter, he wouldn't mind helping them along the path to hell. For those who could eliminate other lives without changing their expression, hell was their best home.

Pushing open the door, Zhou Yi saw a room in disarray, with an empty, messy bed. Only the open window was continuously spewing cold air into the room.

"Clever little guys!" Zhou Yi, who had already used his super vision to locate all the children, chuckled softly. He squatted down and looked directly under the bed.

There, two children were hiding under the bed. The two little ones, wearing only pajamas, covered each other's mouths, warily peering out from the gaps under the bed. Seeing Zhou Yi, the two little ones instinctively recoiled, before realizing who it was.

They rushed into Zhou Yi's arms, huddling tightly against him like two shivering little hamsters.

"Don't be afraid, little ones. It'll be over soon!" Zhou Yi patted the twins' small heads, while swiftly moving from the top floor back to the small living room downstairs. There, Pete, who he had met once before, was already gathered with a group of students.

Suddenly appearing in front of the students, Zhou Yi set down the twins and directly ordered the nervous Mutants who were on the defensive: "Take them, Pete. Logan and Bobby are in the dorms. There's an escape route there. Leave with them, immediately!"

"Mr. Zhou?" Pete asked involuntarily. Not just him, but most of the students hadn't reacted to the attack.

"There's no time to explain. Find Logan. Get out of here first."

As soon as he finished speaking, soldiers wearing Thermal Imagers had already appeared in twos and threes. Upon seeing the Mutant students, they began shooting without hesitation.

The gunfire caused several timid girls to scream, and Pete immediately transformed into a steel body, bending down to protect the two little girls beside him. As someone with the ability to steel his body, he could completely ignore the damage from gunfire. So, without hesitation, he used his body to shield his classmates.

However, what puzzled him was that he didn't feel the impact of the bullets. Even the gunfire had stopped. When he turned around to see what had happened, he found that his classmate's older brother, Zhou Yi, who looked like an ordinary person, had appeared where the soldiers had been standing. In his hand, he held a bullet that had been crushed into a pulp. The soldiers, on the other hand, were lying on the ground, their bodies completely deformed.

Seeing their condition, Pete immediately thought of those dolls that children had accidentally torn apart. Frankly, even the dolls were in a better state than them. He didn't even need to confirm it; he had already concluded in his heart that these people were definitely dead.

"What are you spacing out for? Get moving, now!" Seeing Pete's dazed expression, Zhou Yi urged him impatiently. There was no time for anyone to dawdle. Hearing his words, Pete snapped back to his senses and quickly picked up the two children, leading the way towards the dormitory.

The students quickly left the area under his orders, while Zhou Yi turned his attention to the outside of Xavier's Mansion. In his field of vision, nearly a hundred soldiers had surrounded the entire Xavier's Mansion. For the safety of these children, he had to get them away from here as quickly as possible. And to ensure that these students could leave safely, he had to delay these soldiers as much as possible.

He quickly walked to the outer corridor of the mansion, which had become the frontline against the soldiers' invasion. Zhou Yi looked around. As a school, and one for all ages, Xavier's Mansion naturally wouldn't store dangerous items in places where students frequented. So, Zhou Yi didn't find what he was looking for.

In this situation, Zhou Yi could only silently apologize to Professor Charles, who was still somewhere unknown, hoping he was mentally prepared for the future repairs of the school. Because, not wanting to show himself, he could only use the tables, chairs, doors, and windows of the mansion to temporarily stop the soldiers.

He directly tore off the door of a classroom. The heavy oak door panel was held in his hand like a sheet of paper. Then he glanced at the several military jeeps that had surrounded the mansion in the distance, and swung his arm, throwing the entire door at them like a frisbee.

Perhaps, for Zhou Yi, such a thing was no different from a paper airplane. But for the soldiers under General Stryker, this was something no less devastating than a bomb.

The solid wooden door slammed into the jeep in the distance like a meteor. Under the immense force, the sturdy jeep crumpled like paper, starting from the point of impact. The entire vehicle caved inward, and the shattered bodywork sent fragments flying everywhere, like shrapnel from a bomb. These fragments scattered, and a large number of soldiers around them fell.

And that was just the beginning. After the wooden door hit its target, more things were flung out. There were huge wooden tables and numerous lightweight chairs. These items were like cannonballs, effortlessly destroying Stryker's convoy and causing massive casualties. It also caused the soldiers under his command to fall silent with fear, daring not to advance any further.

Looking at the scene of the wounded crying out in pain, General Stryker's gloomy expression almost froze like ice. He stared at his adjutant and asked through gritted teeth,

"What exactly is going on? Where is our Vanguard Squad?"

Seeing General Stryker's ugly expression, his adjutant couldn't help but swallow his saliva. As his most capable assistant, he understood General Stryker's methods all too well. And precisely because he understood, he felt fear.

So he didn't dare to hide anything and answered directly,

"We have lost contact with the Vanguard Squad. Their mission has probably failed completely."

"Waste, all of them are waste." Stryker roared, but still restrained his urge to act. "Why didn't anyone report this to me!"

"General, there was no warning. We just suddenly lost contact. At first, we thought it was just a communication error, we didn't think anything else of it!" The adjutant defended himself slightly. This was a common occurrence in war; special forces often lost contact with the command system. He had no reason to take responsibility for this.

"Don't you know our enemies are a bunch of monsters? Are those damn battlefield regulations useful here?" Stryker pressed down on his adjutant's shoulder, whispering in his ear. "Because of your mistake, I lost my most elite troops. If it weren't for the fact that you've been my adjutant for many years, I'd really like to throw you in a cage with those mutant trash."

Being locked in a cage with those Mutants who had been tortured into a state beyond recognition, it didn't take a genius to know what would happen. The adjutant's face immediately turned pale, and he quickly nodded in response.

"I'm sorry, sir. I promise there won't be a next time."

"If there is a next time, you'd better take care of yourself. Now give the order, directly blast this mansion with Rockets. I want to see how these mutant monsters will stop my advance." Stryker waved his hand indifferently; he didn't have much time to waste here.

The adjutant quickly relayed the order, and immediately soldiers took out shoulder-mounted Rockets from the intact vehicles, aiming at Xavier's Mansion. When they lined up in rows, the adjutant immediately gave the order to fire.

A dozen Rockets spewed dazzling flames, charging towards Xavier's Mansion. Stryker, who no longer wanted to waste any more manpower, chose the most violent method to open a path to his destination. But the problem was, he didn't know. He wasn't just going to be fighting Mutants, but also a more terrifying opponent.

Watching the Rockets screaming towards him with their flames, Zhou Yi, standing by the corridor window, wore a look of disdain. As long as he was here, those soldiers outside wouldn't be able to advance a single step.

He made a gesture with his fingers closed together towards the window, and an invisible Force Field immediately attached itself to the incoming Rockets.

Having undergone Soul Ascension and awakened Divinity, Zhou Yi had made tremendous progress in his innate abilities. If previously he would have exhausted all his power by opening a Gravity Field of a few hundred feet, now he could extend the Force Field he controlled to several times that distance. And it wasn't just an improvement in distance; there was also a qualitative leap in the strength of the Force Field.

The powerful Force Field directly controlled the Rockets' trajectory, causing them to spew flames uselessly in mid-air, consuming their kinetic energy. And when the kinetic energy was exhausted, and the firing mechanism was activated, the way those Rockets exploded became bizarre.

Stryker's soldiers all knew that their weapons were absolutely the best equipment in the active-duty US military. These Rockets, which had just been put into service, were powerful enough to blow a heavily armored tank to smithereens. The twenty-meter explosion radius was definitely no joke.

Yet what they saw now was weak flames blooming in mid-air, these flames were not much bigger than the light from a torch, and even these weak flames were shrinking bit by bit. Soon, everything was plunged into darkness.

Under the effect of the Gravity Field controlled by Zhou Yi, the power of the explosion was infinitely reduced to a certain range. The light and heat emitted by the Rockets, which could only vent their energy within this range, were naturally no match for even the most ordinary torch.

But the soldiers didn't know any of this. They stared at the strange situation and stopped their advance this time.
