Chapter 54 - Divine Fire, Falling Devil, Azure Sea, Clear Waves

The pilot of the airborne giant wisely shut down the plane's engines. At this moment, the engines' power was not only of no help to the Dawn Knight, who was responsible for the safety of all the passengers, but also presented a huge obstacle. Even for his own safety, he dared not continue such a foolish act.

The massive plane finally had a moment of stability. Although Zhou Yi had put all his strength into maintaining the plane's safe landing, he still had to devote some energy to the engines of the giant wings. The Flesh Monster was still hiding inside. He couldn't guarantee that the monster would remain so obedient.

Zhou Yi's divided attention might fool others, but it definitely couldn't fool the woman in his arms. Women were strange creatures; they were unusually concerned about the directions in which men, especially attractive men, focused their attention. Because they always hoped that those men's attention would be focused on them.

"What are you looking at?" The woman, sensing that the danger had passed, asked her question.

"I'm looking at the source of the chaos!" Zhou Yi's voice was not at all agitated, as if all the difficulties did not exist before his eyes. "If you need to find the culprit after landing, you might only be able to find it to be responsible. But I don't think any court can pass judgment on it!"

"What is it? What exactly happened?" The woman asked in confusion. Having been sitting in first class, she knew nothing except that a superhero called the Dawn Knight had suddenly rushed in to fight the bad guys. And before she could get a more detailed understanding of everything, disaster struck.

"I was chasing a guy carrying a huge danger, but I didn't expect him to turn into a real monster. It was this monster that caused this disaster, and now it's hiding in that engine."

"Are you kidding me?" The woman simply didn't believe in monsters, the kind you see in movies. She was more inclined to believe it was a terrorist attack. "How could there be… monsters in this world?"

However, before she could finish, a harsh reality delivered a heavy left hook.

The powerless turbine could no longer interfere with the Flesh Monster. As its own energy dwindled to a certain extent, it decided to abandon its temporary shelter and seek out food that could provide it with energy.

Lacking the ability to think also meant it had no memory. Its collective will was chaotic and weak, so it quickly forgot about the person who had harmed it, the one who had driven it into this dark corner. Submitting to its primal instincts, it made finding food its top priority.

After being refined by the engine turbine, its repeatedly destroyed body had increased in strength by several levels. Its flailing tentacles easily tore through the engine's thick metal armor, and using the tentacles' strength, the Flesh Monster pulled its body out once more, slowly crawling towards the plane's passenger cabin.

Seeing the terrifying monster reappear in their sight, the crowd erupted in an instant. Panic and chaos, fear and trepidation, these negative emotions all exploded. For the Flesh Monster, which perceived the outside world through its mental power, this was akin to telling it where the food was.

"Damn it!" Zhou Yi cursed fiercely, watching it change direction towards the most chaotic part of the crowd. His strength was currently all used to support the massive object on top of him; he had no extra power to deal with the monster that was now foraging.

The woman clearly sensed the hero's anxiety beside her, and she truly felt the man's predicament. Therefore, she empathized, her eyes also revealing a nervous expression, but her lake-blue eyes darted around rapidly, clearly pondering a solution.

Suddenly, a look of intelligence flashed across the woman's face. She had come up with a solution.

"Can you still use your ability?" the woman shouted, the strong air currents at high altitude forcing her to abandon her usual ladylike demeanor. "I mean, that ability to emit rays!"

The abilities Dawn Knight had shown to the public weren't numerous, but the most talked-about were his Heat Ray, which could tear through anything, and his ability to fly. His super strength and other abilities weren't as noticeable. Of all his abilities, the most outstanding and mysterious was his Heat Ray.

Many people remembered the ray of light that pierced the sky when Dawn Knight first appeared. Although it was only to prevent rioters from detonating a bomb, according to later statistics, that beam of light had cut through the pillars of four bridges. Fortunately, they were in unimportant locations. For this, the public facilities management department had even submitted a bill to Dawn Knight through the New York Police Department.

Hearing the woman's words, Zhou Yi was a little puzzled. If it were possible, he would have used this ability long ago. But then, the safety of the plane would be completely finished. He was just about to explain. The woman's words opened a new window for him.

"The plane's engines have been shut down, so it doesn't matter whether the Wings are there or not. Although this direction might cause some damage to the underside of the plane. But the underside is just the cargo hold, so no one will be hurt. On the contrary, you can reduce a lot of burden."

Zhou Yi heard this and opened his super vision to carefully assess the situation. It was indeed not much different from what the woman had said. In fact, it would be even better. Removing the two Wings, which were eighty meters long, would not only have little impact on the passengers on the plane, but would also reduce a lot of pressure on him. Moreover, cutting off the Wings, the Flesh Monster would fall with them. When it fell away from the plane, he could completely eliminate this annoying guy.

Thinking of this, he immediately took action. A dazzling light instantly burst from the center of his helmet. A beam of light, as thick as a thigh, instantly pierced through the bottom armor of the plane, and then began to cut along the base of the plane's Wings.

The so-called aerospace metal was no match for a heat ray focused to a temperature exceeding one hundred thousand degrees Celsius, being sliced through with ease. From the passengers' perspective, two beams of light suddenly flashed across the sides of the plane. With the beams gone, the wings, along with the monster on them, began to plummet.

The monster, relying solely on its collective will, had no idea what was happening. It simply followed its instincts, moving towards its target. It didn't even notice it was falling, gradually distancing itself from its goal. And it certainly wouldn't know that this also meant it was sinking into the abyss of death.

Once the wings had separated from the aircraft by a certain distance, invisible flames enveloped them. Zhou Yi, fueled by his hatred, unleashed the maximum temperature he could control. The flames, exceeding thirty thousand degrees, had lost their color to the naked eye. These invisible and deadly flames effortlessly engulfed the entire wing, along with the monster, instantly turning both to nothingness.

At such a temperature, even metal would evaporate. The monster, of course, had no chance of survival. There wasn't even a scream; they simply vanished from sight. People couldn't see the flames; they could only feel the scorching waves of heat emanating from the wings hundreds of meters away, along with the stinging sensation in their eyes.

Many people suffered varying degrees of minor burns and some damage to their vision. Fortunately, it was all within the scope of medical treatment. The airline and their insurance company would, no doubt, gladly foot the bill for these injuries.

Zhou Yi straightened up slightly, shielding the woman in his arms from the incoming heat. He had devoted all of his Telekinesis to the plane and could only express his gratitude in this primitive way.

The woman smiled gratefully; although protected, she could still feel the heat outside. The Dawn Knight's cloak shielded most of her body, but not her charming face. Without Zhou Yi's protection, she might have to hide away for a while, afraid to be seen. Even for the sake of her appearance, she wouldn't begrudge this smile. Moreover, he had genuinely saved her life.

The woman was about to say something, but Zhou Yi interrupted her.

"Be careful, we're about to land."

She looked back instinctively, seeing only the azure sea and the approaching horizon. They were less than two hundred meters from the water when Zhou Yi abruptly retracted his Telekinesis, using his remaining mental power to envelop the woman in his arms.

The plane plunged, unprotected by Telekinesis. The entire weight of the aircraft fell upon Zhou Yi. Fortunately, the burden had been lightened, and the massive passenger plane was within his physical limits. He supported the giant aircraft, like Hercules holding up Mount Olympus. Slowly, he lowered it onto the sea.

The immense weight and volume crashed onto the water, creating rolling waves and a muffled roar. Hundreds of tons of seawater were displaced, forming surging waves that crashed against the azure surface. The ripples spread outward, one after another, across the sea.

On the horizon, at the edge of their vision, under the golden morning sunlight, a number of ships from the British Naval Defense were rapidly approaching.

Everyone on the plane was safe, truly safe this time. But this time, there was no cheering. They silently ran to the sides of the aircraft, peering out through the small windows or the broken fuselage, as if waiting for the main character of a gathering. Without him, any celebration would be meaningless.

And where was the main character? A huge question arose in their hearts. This question made them silent and fearful; they disregarded their own injuries, focusing intently on the calmed surface of the sea. Some quietly clasped hands, while others closed their eyes and prayed. They were praying, longing for their hero to appear.

This situation should have been a perfect, happy ending, not a tragic demise of a hero.

It seemed as if he had heard the prayers of the people. A dark figure tore through the calm sea, surging upwards from the deep waters. The golden morning sun shone upon him, reflecting the emblem on his shoulder and the long hair of the woman in his arms, making them exceptionally dazzling.

An overwhelming cheer erupted from the crowd. This was the ending they wanted to see. A reward befitting a hero.

He gently landed on top of the plane, holding the woman in his arms. Zhou Yi suddenly felt a daze and almost fell to the ground. The depletion of his mental power made his brain feel heavy and sluggish. Just now, when he was supporting the plane as it fell into the water, he had almost passed out. Fortunately, the woman in his arms had woken him up, though her method was a bit strange.

He carefully placed the woman on the ground and said "Thank you" solemnly. Although the thanks contained an irrepressible hint of amusement.

The woman rubbed her red palms; her slender hands and the hard helmet had given her unforgettable pain. However, she didn't dwell on such trivial matters. Instead, she untied the cloak wrapped around her and handed it to Zhou Yi.

"I should be the one saying thank you. Thank you for your cloak!"

"Keep it as a memento. I think it should have some significance," Zhou Yi smiled and turned around. Usually, he would have lingered with such a beauty for a while, but now he had some accounts to settle. Watching the ships that had sailed close to the plane, he took off into the air, flying towards the other side of the ocean.

The woman behind him reached out a hand but grasped nothing. Watching the Dawn Knight disappear from sight, she hugged the cloak tightly, closing her eyes. What she couldn't forget in her thoughts was the glimpse of gold that peeked out from under the black armor.
