Chapter 1 - chapter 1

Two years ago, the world faced a terror that no one had words for.

Lives changed.

Entire lands changed.

Even the sky changed.

Kaen was only ten years old, too small to understand what fear truly was.

But even at that age, he could feel it.

One day, on a quiet morning, birds flew freely across the blue sky. The sun rose and shined over the fields, children ran around laughing and playing, villagers walked through the fields and shops.

It was a peaceful day.

But then the sky cracked open

A golden light tore through the heavens as if a giant blade had sliced the sky in half.

Bright golden light spread across the sky. Villagers of orvale looked up, covering their eyes with their hands as the light was too bright. They were confused.

"What is happening?"

"Is god angry with us?"

No one knew.

Then the sound came

A sound so terrifying that it's roar spread across the land with thunder sparking in the sky. It sent huge shockwaves.

Windows of the houses cracked, birds scattered everywhere unable to fly.

Kaen fall on the ground, holding his ears with hands, eyes closed as he couldn't see anything.

The ground beneath him shook.

People later called it Solar Fracture.

But for now no one had a name for this disaster, destroying the world.

Fear spread across their faces, their body froze.

The light spread across the sky in all directions like spider web.

Kaen gasped for air.

Villagers around him ran to find shelter.

Children screamed, their bodies froze, asking for help.

Kaen mother pulled his hands and hugged him.

"Kaen, stay with me. Don't look at the sky, it will hurt your eyes," his mother whispered.

But Kaen did… and what he saw changed his life forever.

Because through the cracks in the sky

shadows began falling.

Huge shadows, massive beast like figure fell from the sky.

Some crashed at distant mountains, some near the forest, some near the river.

But one was straight moving towards their village.

A huge silhoutte, Smoke and fire wrapped around his body.

As he landed, the ground shook. Sending huge shockwaves.

Houses, shops, animal shelter were destroyed.

Dust covered their eyes.

People fell to the ground.

Kaen hugged is mother tightly

"Mother, what is happening? I am afraid of it."

His mother whispered,"I don't know... I don't know..."

From the dust came a huge roar as if from a beast that had been to rest for thousand of years.

As the dust settled down,

They saw a huge monster, dark plates covered his body, cracks from which molten lava flowed. With its each breath it spit fire which spread across the village.

People froze in fear.

"What is this thing?"

"Is these even real?"

With each step he took, the ground shook.

People lost their balance, falling to the ground.

Kaen looked at it, his eyes frozen, he couldn't breathe.

From the shadows, a hand pulled him and his mother.

It was his father.

"Don't look there, Kaen, follow me!"

He told them to hide behind a broken cart.

"Stay here. Don't move"

But Kaen couldn't help it. He looked from the hole in the cart.

With each step the beast took, cracks appeared on ground.

Molten lava flowed through his body, falling on the ground with steam rising from it.

Villagers screamed, runing in all directions, trying to find a place to protect themselves.

Some ran in their house, while some hid behind walls.

Their breathe shallow, hands covering their mouths.

The beast moved his head, seraching for them. It's eyes glowed.

Kaen felt something strange in his heart. A light glowed beneath his shirt.

He looked down.

He saw a small golden mark appearing on his chest, shaped like an ember.

It glowed faintly at first, then bright, as if responding to his heartbeat.

His heart felt like crushed to pieces.

His breath weakned.

He screamed, "Mother! Mother—my chest! It hurts! Help me!"

His mother turned his head, and when she looked at the glowing mark, her expression changed.

She moved her hand, touched kaen cheeks, and said, "Kaen... listen to me."

"What?"

"You need to run…"

her voice broke, "You need to live."

Her arms wrapped around him, tears rolled down her face.

"Mother why are you crying?"

"Look at me!"

She pushed him aside as the cart was about to fell on them.

Kaen fell on the ground.

He looked at his mother, her body beneath the cart, she couldn't move her body.

Blood spilled from her wounds.

"Mother! Mother don't worry! I'll help you!"

Tears rolled from his eyes.

He got up and tried to move the cart along with his father.

His father screamed, "Kaen, run away! I will save your mother!

Go and hide yourself somewhere safe so the beast doesn't find you."

"But I can't leave you all!"

"We will be right behind you," his father smiled at him with pain in his eyes.

The beast moved towards them.

With each step he took, the ground beneath them shook.

He sat beside her, crying and coughing.

The beast picked a piece of a wall and threw it toward them.

The wall came flying at them. His father pushed him.

Kaen fell on the ground.

He looked at his parent both of them being crushed by the walls.

His mother barely alive.

Her voice was faint.

In her final breath she whispered,

"Live for us, Kaen.. please

We both always loved you..."

Kaen screamed at top of his voice, untill no sound came from his throat.

"No… no… this can't happen… I must be hallucinating…"

The beast roared.

It turned its head toward him and moved closer.

That was the last time he saw them.

Heat burned everything around him.

He didn't want to move, but he got up and ran forward.

He looked back

His parents' silhouettes disappeared behind the flames.

Tears kept falling from his eyes.

As he ran ahead, he fell down on the ground.

He looked back, the beast had already reached him, its claw ready to tear apart his body.

Molten lava dripped from his cracks.

Kaen froze.

He closed his eyes.

His chest mark glowed, light spreading through his skin.

Then

A strike of silver cut through the smoke.

A sword.

A mysterious man leaped through the air, landing on the beast back with unbelievable strength.

His blade glowed with yellow light as he strikes through the beast's head, giving it a crucial wound.

The beast screamed in pain, it moved back his body stumbled but he didn't fall.

Molten blood fell on ground, smoke rising from it.

The man shouted, his voice powerful and rough

"Stay down, kid! Don't move!

I will save you!"

Kaen turned his head, opened his eyes, vision still blurry.

He saw a tall man with silver hair tied behind his back. His Armor had many deep scars from previous battle.

He had a scar on his face near the left eye.

His sword was covered with blood, and his stance reflected confidence.

He was none other than

Captain Ryn kaelor, strongest defender of Orvale.

He changed his stance and moved towards the beast again.

But this time, his sword aimed for the beast's skull.

The attack more precise and accurate than previous.

His blade slashed straight through the beast's skull.

The monstor cloasped to the ground with thunderous sound.

Ground shook as he fell on the ground.

Kaen glanced at ryn, he was shocked, he had never seen a powerful soldier.

Tears still fell from his eyes.

Ryn looked at kaen. He took a deep breath.

"Are you hurt, kid?

Where is your family?"

Before Kaen could answer

A burst of molten energy erupted from the beast's corpse.

Kaen cried out as the light swallowed him. His body felt like it was burning from the inside.

His chest mark glowed, he screamed in pain.

Ryn stumbled, clutching his side as golden cracks of light followed through his veins like molten lava flowed in his body.

He dropped to one knee, blood dripping from his lip.

The beast's cuserd energy has entered both of their bodies.

Kaen tried to stand.

He tried to run, but his body went numb.

His vision blurred.

He saw Ryn still standing, barely, his veins glowed, as the cuserd energy spread like fire under his skin.

He saw the burning ruins of his home.

He saw the sky still broken, golden cracks, light still travelling through the dark clouds.

Huge monstrous shilouettes falling from the sky.

Then he heard his mother's final whisper echo in his head.

"Live, Kaen."

Then the world faded into black.
