Chapter 4 - Demons and Marks

Night fell.

As usual, Mitsuko stayed at home, practicing the sword techniques in his mind with the tree branch in his hand.

Mitsuko had already mastered the swordsmanship in his mind to perfection.

However, Mitsuko was helpless against the breathing technique of Sun Breathing.

According to the image of the man in my mind, when he uses Sun Breathing, he should exhale a breath as bright as the sun.

However, whenever Mitsuko tried to use the breathing technique, his body felt as if it were being burned by flames, causing excruciating pain.

After some attempts.

Mitsuko collapsed to the ground, his entire body drenched in sweat from the extreme pain.

A bitter smile appeared on Mitsuko's face: "An aura like the sun... I'm just an insect that can only hide in the shadows right now, how could I possibly learn Sun Breathing?"

Just as Mitsuko was about to take a break...

A noisy commotion came from afar outside.

Mitsuko peered out through the gap in the curtains.

Flames were seen scattered throughout the village, and cries for help could be heard from all directions.

Furthermore, Mitsuko smelled a repulsive odor that was very similar to his own, as well as a strong, tantalizing smell of blood that made Mitsuko's mouth water.

In other words, a real demon came to the village.

Mitsuko really wanted to leave the house and help the people in the village.

However, Miyako and Kenichi had instructed Mitsuko not to leave the house no matter what happened.

On one side are the parents' instructions, and on the other side are the villagers who are being harmed by demons.

Mitsuko's gaze gradually hardened, and he had already made up his mind.

Because Kenichi once taught Mitsuko: "Having power is not a bad thing. Use your power for good and help those who need help."

Mitsuko resolutely opened the door and left the house he hadn't left in six years.

After leaving the house, Mitsuko ran towards the village.

Along the way, the villagers they encountered were all fleeing for their lives.

Entering the village.

Mitsuko witnessed a horrifying scene.

Limbs and torsos were everywhere, and flames continued to burn the village.

The peaceful village I remembered has been turned into this tragic state.

However, the blood left on the ground stimulated Mitsuko's taste buds, causing him to involuntarily swallow.

Mitsuko mustered his courage and continued walking inside.

A figure was seen lying on a corpse, gnawing on its flesh.

The demon that was gnawing on the corpse suddenly turned its head, revealing four blood-red eyes on its face.

Upon seeing such a terrifying face for the first time, Mitsuko trembled slightly and took a step back in fear.

The demon's four eyes simultaneously looked at Mitsuko: "Oh? So this place is haunted. I thought it was an uninhabited hunting ground."

"Unfortunately, this place is now my dining hall. If you want to hunt, go somewhere else!"

The demon ruthlessly drove Mitsuko away.

Unmoved, Mitsuko picked up a kitchen knife from the ground, took a deep breath, forced himself to calm down, and then charged at the demon.

However, just as Mitsuko approached the demon, the demon suddenly braced its hands on the ground, lifted its feet into the air, and kicked Mitsuko squarely in the abdomen.

The immense impact sent Mitsuko flying into the ruins.

The demon got up and wiped the bloodstains from its mouth.

"It's ridiculous that a demon fights like a human."

Mitsuko, who had fallen in the ruins, stood up and faced the demon once again.

Mitsuko was already able to endure this pain, and because of his demonic constitution, he quickly recovered.

The demon warned menacingly, "I'm giving you one last chance. Get out of here now, this place is mine!"

Mitsuko picked up the kitchen knife from the ground again and rushed towards the demon.

"Don't blame me if you're asking for it!"

The demon also rushed towards Mitsuko, using its hand as a knife to stab Mitsuko's chest.

The demon's hand pierced through Mitsuko's chest, but Mitsuko's cleaver only managed to cut the demon's arm, hitting the bone before failing to penetrate any further.

The demon swung its arm, sending Mitsuko flying.

Mitsuko stood up again, constantly reminding himself to stay calm. This was his first real battle, a battle for survival.

Mitsuko repeatedly recalled the sword techniques he had learned over the past six years in his mind, then gripped the kitchen knife tightly, waiting for the demon to make its move.

The demon clenched its fist and slammed it down hard on Mitsuko.

If Mitsuko were hit, his skull would definitely shatter.

Mitsuko, with his attention fully focused, seemed to have entered a wondrous realm.

The freckles on my forehead felt slightly warm.

With his eyes, he could clearly see the rise and fall of the demon's lungs and the flow and contraction of its blood vessels.

And the demon's swinging fist seemed to be slowed down several times over.

With a slight tilt of his head, the demon's fist grazed Mitsuko's hair and missed its mark.

Mitsuko slashed the cleaver in his hand upwards across the demon's right armpit joint, severing the entire arm cleanly at the root.

The demon took a few steps back, its expression filled with disbelief.

Just a moment ago he was so weak and vulnerable, why does he suddenly seem like a completely different person?

Moreover, facing Mitsuko's gaze, the demon felt as if he had been seen through.

"What a joke!" The demon instantly regenerated an arm and angrily charged at Mitsuko again.

"left."

Mitsuko could clearly see that the flow of blood throughout the demon's body was concentrated on the left side.

In other words, the demon will swing its left fist and attack Mitsuko's right side.

As the demon swung its fist, Mitsuko turned his body to the side in advance.

As expected, the demon swung its left fist and attacked Mitsuko's right side.

The demon's attack missed, and taking advantage of the opening, Mitsuko once again wielded the kitchen knife, severing the demon's left arm.

The demon's arm grew back rapidly once again.

However, the regeneration speed this time was slower than the first time.

Mitsuko guessed that the regeneration of demons was not endless.

With his wondrous realm of understanding, Mitsuko was able to predict the attacks of the demons and fight with increasing ease.

He continuously used his swordsmanship to sever the demon's limbs.

As time goes by.

The demon's arms were severed by Mitsuko again, but this time the regeneration rate had become extremely slow.

The demon no longer dared to underestimate Mitsuko.

"Since this is your hunting ground, then it's yours for the taking."

The world of demons is just like the human world, where the strong prey on the weak.

The demon yielded to Mitsuko, and there were still large towns around it that it could hunt.

There's no need to get bogged down in this.

The demon turned to leave, but Mitsuko blocked its way.

"I've already given the hunting grounds back to you, what more do you want?!"

"You must pay for the lives of these innocent people in the village!"

Although Mitsuko hadn't left the village for six years, having lived there for over a decade, he was intimately familiar with every inch of the village and had a strong sense of belonging.

This is Mitsuko's home, and these people are Mitsuko's companions.

The demon laughed as if it had heard a very funny joke: "Did I hear that right? You're a demon, are you going to help humans?"

Mitsuko defended himself, saying, "I'm not a demon! I'm human!"

The demon could tell that Mitsuko didn't want to let it leave: "You can't kill me, so what can you do to me?"

Mitsuko looked at the demon with unwavering determination: "I will kill you! Dawn will break soon."

The demon spat on the ground: "What bad luck! I ran into a madman! As a demon, he actually thought of helping humans kill their own kind!"

"It's not me who's gone mad, it's you demons! And I'm not one of you either!"

Mitsuko gripped the kitchen knife tightly and slashed at the demon.
