Chapter 61 - Chapter 59: The Bison in Class

A new week arrived, and the atmosphere of Halloween became stronger and stronger.

As a friend, Ethan Jones began to pay attention to Hermione's movements to prevent her from being blocked in the bathroom by a Troll and encountering life-threatening danger.

After all, in this world with him, who could say if some things would change?

He vaguely remembered that she had a conflict with Ron because of a Charms class and was cried into hiding in the bathroom.

As study buddies for more than two months, he knew that Gryffindor's Charms class on Halloween Eve was in the morning.

He was ready. Now it depended on whether this event would happen.

On Thursday morning, after Ethan Jones finished his Herbology class, which was at the same time as Gryffindor's Charms class, he waited for Hermione in the library as they had agreed yesterday.

Unfortunately, Hermione didn't appear until the lunch break.

Ethan Jones sighed: "It seems Hermione was still cried into hiding. It seems some things are not so easy to change."

He went to the Great Hall but didn't find Hermione either. So he went to the Gryffindor table, found a first-year girl who looked familiar and he vaguely remembered as Hermione's roommate but couldn't recall her name, to ask about her whereabouts.

"Hello, why isn't Hermione here? Do you know where she went?" Ethan Jones was polite.

The girl named Patil recognized the boy who was often with Hermione at a glance.

"Hermione had an emotional breakdown for some reason in the morning and is crying in the bathroom on the third floor. She won't let us comfort her. You came just in time. I think you should be able to make her stop crying."

"Okay, thank you. I'll take my leave."

He brought some food and walked towards the third floor of the Castle.

Standing at the bathroom door, listening to the sniffling sound inside, he gently called inside: "Hermione! Hermione!"

"Ethan, wha... why are you here?" Hermione answered between sobs.

"We agreed to meet in the library, but you didn't come.

I didn't see you in the Great Hall either. Afraid something happened to you, I asked a girl from your Gryffindor. She said you were crying here.

Come out quickly. If you have anything sad, you can tell me, and it will pass soon."

"No, my eyes are swollen from crying. So... so ugly."

"It doesn't matter. Come out. I also brought some food. I think you should be hungry."

"Okay, I'll tidy up." After a while, following the sound of water, Hermione walked out with red eyes.

"Eat something first. Do you want to go to the Hospital Wing later? I think Madam Pomfrey definitely has a way to make your eyes less red."

"Mm." Hermione silently ate the pizza and fries Ethan Jones had packed.

After explaining the purpose of their visit, Madam Pomfrey quickly took out a jar of ointment, took a little from it, and applied it around Hermione's eyes.

After applying the ointment, she instructed: "Rest here for ten minutes. It might feel a bit cool around the eyes; this is normal."

"Okay, Madam."

Madam Pomfrey turned her head, looking at Ethan Jones like she was looking at a little scumbag, and warned: "Don't make girls cry!"

"I didn't!" He wanted to cry but had no tears. Heaven knows, although it was indeed a boy who made Hermione cry, it really wasn't him, and he didn't have that kind of intention towards Hermione.

"It really wasn't him, Madam." Hermione also defended him.

Madam Pomfrey looked at the two for a while, confirming that things might not be what she thought, before walking out somewhat embarrassedly.

Hermione closed her eyes waiting for the potion to take effect, while Ethan Jones let down his hanging heart: "Hermione has come out of the bathroom. Even if a Troll is released by Quirrell tonight, it doesn't matter much."

Magic potions were indeed magical. Ten minutes later, Hermione's bloodshot eyes returned to their original appearance.

Leaving the Hospital Wing, Hermione said goodbye to Ethan Jones and went back to the dormitory to tidy up her appearance and prepare for the afternoon Herbology class.

Ethan Jones also returned to the dungeons, picked up the textbooks needed for Charms class, and went to the library first.

The afternoon Charms class was wonderful, practicing the classic spell—Wingardium Leviosa (Levitation Charm).

Under the command of Professor Flitwick's wand, the feather rotated, jumped, never stopping, sometimes wavy, sometimes triangular, performing various difficult movements in the air.

But when the feather reached their hands, it was a completely different story.

Those who did better, like Draco, could make the feather float, but the poor ones, like Goyle and Crabbe, almost waved sparks out of their wands, yet the feather remained motionless.

"Don't be so rough. Remember that subtle wrist movement, swish and flick, swish and flick." Professor Flitwick stood on the pile of books, demonstrating the wand movement towards Goyle and Crabbe.

"Also, don't pronounce the spell wrong, never—" Before the professor finished speaking, a bison appeared in the classroom.

It was Crabbe, eager to try, who unfortunately pronounced the spell wrong.

The bison rested two hooves on the table, mooing, trying to put the remaining two hooves on the ground up as well.

"Alright, Mr. Crabbe has given us a negative example. Do you remember the importance of correct incantation?"

Professor Flitwick swished and flicked his wand, and a huge bison was floated in the air, its four hooves paddling in the air, mooing in terror.

Professor Flitwick jumped off the pile of books: "You guys practice first; I'll deal with it."

After speaking, he walked towards the castle gate with a floating bison. It seemed he planned to release the bison into the Forbidden Forest.

"Wow! The Levitation Charm can actually move such a heavy object!" The Slytherins didn't ridicule Crabbe too much; their focus was on Professor Flitwick's spell.

After marveling, everyone practiced the spell extremely seriously, hoping the next person who could float a bison would be themselves.

Because of this interruption, the effect of this class was surprisingly good. By the time class ended, most students had learned this spell.

Ethan Jones needless to say; he had long been proficient in using this spell and could now float a log flying everywhere.

A Charms class full of "surprises" ended, and all the Slytherins were very excited, including Crabbe who summoned the bison.

Hermione's matter was considered resolved. She was attending Herbology class in the greenhouse, so Ethan Jones decided to take this opportunity to go to Hagrid's again.

As the Halloween pumpkin supplier, Hagrid had asked him a few days ago to help use the Engorgio charm to enlarge the pumpkins for decorating the Great Hall.

He just wanted to see if the effect of this spell was still there after a few days.
