"Ring, ring."
The blaring sound of the alarm stirred me from sleep. I reached out to turn it off.
"Oh Lord…" I muttered a simple prayer.
"Happy birthday to you…"
I heard voices as the door opened, revealing my girls, Aurelle and Arielle and of course, my sweetest guy, Damian.
"Oh my God!" I cried in surprise upon seeing Damian. I quickly jumped out of bed and hugged him tightly.
"Babe, you're going to choke me," he laughed, and we all joined in.
"Oh my, I'm sorry," I released him and held his hand.
"And I haven't seen you in a while. I thought today would be a very busy day for you," I whined playfully as I swung our hands.
"No, my lady. There's no way I'd miss today."
"Ahem. Damian is not the only one here," Aurelle said.
"Oh, Aurelle…" I blushed.
"Don't mind her. Let's leave them alone to mind their business," Arielle teased as she dragged Aurelle out of the room.
With them gone, I became emboldened.
I wrapped my hands around Damian's waist and stared into his eyes. He stared back, and soon the air in the room shifted. Heat rolled in. Desire thickened between us.
He pulled me in for a kiss.
It started slow, like we were trying to savor each other.
But soon, the pace changed.
Damian's kiss grew deeper, more urgent, his hand sliding up my back as he pulled me closer. I gripped his shirt, my breath catching when he tilted his head and kissed me again. The room felt warmer, smaller , like it existed just for us.
He pulled back slightly, his lips brushing mine.
"Do you know how much I've missed doing this?" he whispered.
I didn't answer.
I just kissed him again, letting the moment swallow everything else.
Knock, knock.
The sound of the door broke us apart.
"Liana, freshen up quickly. We have many places to be today!" Aurelle called.
"Okay!" I shouted back, still clinging to Damian. I didn't want to leave him. All I wanted was to stay in his arms today. Call me clingy if you like. I've been starved of seeing my baby. I intended to make the most of today.
After all, I don't get to see him every day. Our schedules are worlds apart. Like two days ago , we couldn't see each other because he was pulled in for an emergency surgery. Sometimes, I wish he wasn't a doctor… but he looks so hot in his scrubs that I can't help myself when I feel horny. Did I mention his smile alone sends chills down my spine?
I adore everything about my Damian.
"Alright babe, you need to get in the bathroom," he said, pulling away.
"Dam…" I gave him puppy eyes.
"Don't worry, I'll be here when you finish. Besides, we have a lot to do today," he said, gently pushing me toward the bathroom.
"I have a dress for you," he added the moment I stepped in.
"What!" I exclaimed. "Let me see!" I reached for the door.
"Liana," he warned, sternness in his voice.
"Okay…" I surrendered and began freshening up.
"I'm done," I said as I stepped out , only to find the room empty.
He must have gone downstairs.
"Oh wow…" I squealed when I saw the dress he left for me. "This is so beautiful."
I held it up against my body and smiled. Quickly, I applied lotion and slipped into the dress. Looking at myself in the mirror, I couldn't help but marvel. I added matching heels and a clutch.
"How do I look?" I asked when I reached downstairs.
Silence.
Then Aurelle grabbed my hands and turned me around slowly.
"Eli, my love… this is beautiful," she squealed, eyes shining.
"Babe…" I looked at Damian.
"You're gorgeous," he mouthed.
I felt like I'd just won the jackpot.
"Thank you," I beamed, my 32 teeth showing.
"So, baby girl, ready to hit the town?" Arielle asked.
"Of course! I'm set," I said, doing a 360 turn.
Aurelle and Arielle's boyfriends walked in.
"Birthday girl!" one greeted.
"Happy birthday, Eli," Carl , Arielle's boyfriend said, giving a small kiss on my hand.
"Thank you," I smiled as he went to join Arielle.
And with that, our outing began.
We left in three cars. I rode with Damian in his Aston Martin. I love his car, even though I have a Barbados of my own. I tangled my hand with his throughout the ride.
"Why are you smiling sheepishly?" he asked.
"Because I'm seeing you and I haven't in a while," I said, leaning over to steal a kiss.
"Babe, you're going to get us in trouble," he chuckled.
"I'm sorry about the other time," he said, lifting my hand to his lips.
"It's okay, babe. You're here now." I cupped his face.
"We're here," Damian announced as we arrived at The Place, one of the Georges-Will family restaurants. Tradition demanded we visit it on birthdays.
After eating there, we went to Eleven Madison Park.
"I'm getting on the swing!" I said, running ahead.
"No one is fighting you for the swing," Aurelle teased. She knows how much I love swings.
"Why are we the only ones here?" I asked.
"Well, babe… the park is rented out to celebrate you today," Damian said.
"Oh my…" I covered my mouth. I could feel myself melting.
Was there a limit to how much one could love a man? Because I was dangerously in love with this boy.
"Oh my God, Damian… what can I do without you?" I stared at him like he hung the stars.
"Liana, you can do a lot without me," he said, stepping between my legs.
"I love you," I whispered.
"I love you too, Liana," he replied, lacing our fingers and kissing my forehead.
Soon, it was time to go home. The ride was silent. I was exhausted.
"Babe, thank you for taking time to be here today," I murmured sleepily.
"You're welcome, my love."
A few minutes later, we arrived home. The others had gone in since I fell asleep in the car.
"Babe…" Damian shook me gently. "We're home."
"Carry me," I stretched my arms out.
He smiled, got out, closed the door, and came to lift me in his arms. A wicked smile spread across my face. I began showered his face with kisses.
"Liana…" he tried to stop me, but I refused. Who knew when I'd see him again?
When we entered the house, everything was dark.
"Aurelle? Arielle?" I called.
Suddenly , the lights came on.
"SURPRISE!"
The once plain living room was fully decorated. Everyone was there including the Georges-Will parents.
I blushed instantly because I was in Damian's arms.
"Put me down," I whispered, and he did.
"Mom, Dad!" I rushed to hug them.
"How are you, my child?" Mrs. Georges-Will asked.
"I'm fine, Mom."
"How did you pull this off?" I asked Aurelle.
"Ask Damian. He did the most. I only assisted."
I looked at Damian across the room; he was chatting with someone. Soon, he joined the Georges-Wills.
The party went into full swing. After cutting the cake and mingling, I slipped away to my room to rest. Bad hosting or not, I couldn't care less because I was exhausted.
After changing into comfortable shorts and a top, with a cap covering my hair, I stood by the window, staring at New York. Today would forever be memorable.
"Are you okay?" Damian asked, wrapping his arms around me from behind.
"Oh yeah. Just a little overwhelmed," I said.
"Take it easy, my love. You're worth celebrating."
He kissed my neck, and I tilted my head to give him more access. Neck kisses ruin me , they always have.
Soon, he turned me around, and kissed me with a rush of urgency, like tonight was his last chance. Hands wandered, clothes came off, and before long, we were in bed.
When he pushed inside me, I moaned loudly.
"Fuck…"
The next morning, I could barely stand. Damian had gone all night, over and over. And I loved every bit of it, even if my legs were now sore.
"Damian?" I called, realizing he wasn't in the room.
Then I noticed a paper on the bedside table.
Stretching to grab it, I saw his neat handwriting:
"I promise to come see you in the evening. A patient needs my help now. See you."
I smiled.
I knew I would see him soon
