••{NAYEESHA'S POV}••
I don't know how long the battle has been raging.
Time has dissolved into noise and blood and pain.
Every time I draw on my magic, my head throbs like it's being split open from the inside. Every spell sends a sharp pulse through my skull, bright enough to make my vision swim and my knees threaten to give out. For a heartbeat I'm never quite sure if I'm still standing.
But I keep pushing anyway.
A guard charges straight at me, spinning in a blur with twin swords in his hands. I grit my teeth and thrust my palms forward.
Wind explodes from me in a violent blast.
He's hurled backward like a rag doll, smashing into the pillar. He snarls and scrambles to his feet, reaching for his swords again.
I don't let him.
I draw water out of thin air and send it surging toward him like a wave, engulfing his arms. Then the water freezes solid.
His eyes widen just as I curl my fingers inward. Then the second I clench my fist, the ice shatters along with his arms.
