Late at night, as soon as Saphen got off work and stepped outside, he saw Ember leaning against the wall, clearly waiting. There were cigarette butts at his feet, as if he had been waiting here for a long time.
Hearing the sound, he glanced over and met Saphen's gaze. He immediately curved his lips into a smile, lifting his chin slightly. "You're out? Let's go."
With that, he turned around and started to leave.
But when he didn't hear footsteps following behind him, Ember couldn't help but look back, a hint of confusion in his eyes.
Saphen was still standing there. He was dressed plainly, even wearing a hat and a mask, yet even with only his eyes exposed, there was no way to hide how striking he was. At that moment, those gold-colored eyes seemed to glow in the darkness as they looked at Ember. The light in them was unreadable, but undeniably beautiful.
Ember paused involuntarily, then smiled as if nothing were wrong. "What is it?"
