The creature—what the god had called a Dreadweaver Spider—sprang lightly across the floor and scuttled up the corridor wall in a single, effortless leap.
Its long, hairy legs moved with unnerving agility. A few casual steps brought it straight to the first cocoon.
It worked with practiced ease—clearly a seasoned predator, one that had eaten humans more times than anyone here would like to imagine. With a quick bite, it chewed away a patch of silk near the top of the cocoon, opening a narrow slit. Then it used a hooked foreleg to pry it wider—enough to expose what was inside.
Whatever the trapped man saw from within that slit made him scream.
Barely thirty seconds had passed since the spider's trap snapped shut, yet the man inside had already shredded his throat with panicked cries. He thrashed wildly, fighting the web with desperate force—only to sink deeper, the sticky threads pulling tighter around him.
By now, even ripping off his clothes wouldn't help. It was far too late.
