A/N: Release schedule will be changed to thrice a week for some time. After I have sufficient stockpile I'll start again with daily releases.

The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly building was already buzzing when I arrived with Colonel Rawat.

Security was tighter than usual—double checkpoints, bomb squads, sniffer dog teams, and a line of reporters stretching across the compound like a human barricade.

As soon as I stepped out of the car, microphones shot toward me.

"Aakash! Is it true Arbok almost killed you?"

"Is Aarey Forest safe now?"

"Will the government regulate Pokémon ownership?"

Before they could pull me into a vortex of endless questions, Rawat placed a hand on my shoulder.

"Save it for the Assembly."

We entered.

Inside, a large digital board flashed:

SPECIAL SESSION – POST-MERGE REGULATION BILL

Time: 10:00 AM

Agenda: Pokémon Classification, Trainer Laws, Zone Stabilization

Every MLA, Minister, and Advisor had been called. Even the Chief Minister was present.

I took my seat at the center front, as the Assembly Speaker tapped the mic.

"Call the expert witness—Aakash Patil."

I exhaled and rose.

All eyes pinned to me.

Arbok Incident Briefing

I began with the big one.

"Day before Yesterday, My team faced its first high-level Pokémon rampage."

Murmurs.

I continued.

"A high level Arbok went berserk in the Aarey outer zone.

It took down three Rhyhorn, Rapidash, injured multiple smaller pokemon, and attempted to engulf me.

We neutralized it without civilian casualties."

I tapped the screen remote.

Footage from the bodycams played—Arbok towering, roaring, poison dripping.

Gasps echoed across the chamber.

The Speaker pounded the desk.

"ORDER!"

Silence fell.

Aarey Forest Progress Report

I switched the slide.

"Next—status of Aarey Forest."

Images appeared:

Rhyhorn herd stabilizing the terrain

Berry orchards under maintenance

Miltank grazing

I continued:

"Aarey has now achieved:

Full terrain control

Pokémon food-chain stability

Protection via a Ranger Unit

A trained Rhyhorn herd for labor

A Pokémon Department operational base"

MLAs nodded.

Some whispered:

"Impressive."

"Looks like a proper wildlife sanctuary."

"He really built all that in a week?"

I moved to the next slide.

Other Zones Across Maharashtra

"We have confirmed:

• 17 medium zones

• 5 major zones

• Over 60 minor sub-zones

Emerging in Malvan, Pune outskirts, Nashik, Nagpur, and Satara."

Rawat added:

"If we don't regulate now, these zones will overwhelm us by year's end."

The Chief Minister leaned forward.

"So… we proceed with legislation?"

I nodded.

"It's time."

Pokémon Regulation Act — Reading Begins

The Speaker lifted a thick stack of printed documents.

"Introducing Bill No. 47 — Pokémon Regulation & Protection Act, 2025."

On the big screens, the main sections appeared.

Opposition Tension

The moment trainer age and Pokémon limits appeared—

Several MLAs shot up.

"This is too strict!"

"Why 16 years? Why not 18?"

"Why registration? Are we turning Pokémon into property?"

One Minister scoffed:

"Young people can't handle Pokémon. They'll destroy society!"

I calmly stepped to the mic.

"Sir, teens handle bikes, part-time jobs, and half the stress of adulthood.

Pokémon bond easiest with young trainers.

Delaying training leads to untrained Pokémon, which is MORE dangerous."

A few nodded reluctantly.

Another MLA stood.

"What about rural children? They need protection—not an exam."

I replied:

"They'll be the FIRST to need Pokémon for day-to-day life.

The license is not to burden them—it's to protect them."

The Speaker called for order again.

Section-by-Section Approval

📌 Trainer License Sections

Passed with majority after discussion on safety.

📌 Capture Anywhere Clause

"Pokémon don't stay in forests. They're appearing in shops, trains, apartments.

We need laws that match reality, not fantasy."

It passed.

📌 Fight Until Faint Allowed

No real opposition.

"Fight Until Death" banned—unanimous approval.

📌 Mandatory Pokéball Registration

Some complained.

"This is government overreach!"

Rawat replied sharply:

"If we don't know who owns what Pokémon, don't blame us when a rogue Machoke kills someone."

Passed with high majority.

📌 Zone Laws

MLAs panicked hearing "Zone Leaders."

"Zone what?? They organize??"

I clarified:

"Some Pokémon—like Arcanine in my zone—act like natural rulers.

They keep order. They reduce violence.

Capturing them destabilizes entire ecosystems And it's too dangerous to try"

That shocked the entire hall.

Law passed instantly after that.

Final Moment — The Student Pokémon Program

Here was the controversial part.

The Speaker read:

"Eggs for 10th-grade students at ₹50,000, fees included.

Alternate newborn selection at ₹2,00,000."

Opposition members nearly exploded.

"This is exploitation!"

"You're selling Pokémon to children!"

"This will bankrupt parents!"

The Speaker struggled to contain the noise.

I raised my hand.

"May I clarify?"

The room quieted.

"Students are ALREADY surrounded by Pokémon.

They are encountering them daily.

Without official training and a starter partner, they are vulnerable.

Students may elect not to be pokemon trainers."

Silence.

I continued:

"The ₹50,000 is not a profit.

It covers:

Breeder care

Egg heating

Habitat maintenance

Doctor checks

Genetic screening

Travel logistics

Starter safety belts and kits

And I'll be establishing an scholarship fund by my own money for promising students."

MLAs exchanged stunned looks.

The Chief Minister stood.

"This is the most practical solution.

We either prepare our children… or we let the new world crush them."

And just like that—

The bill entered voting.

Final Vote

Green lights: 176

Red lights: 28

Abstain: 6

The PokÉmon Regulation Act passed.

A wave of relief filled the chamber.

The Speaker announced:

"THE BILL HAS PASSED WITH SECURE MAJORITY."

Applause spread.

Rawat let out a breath he'd been holding for minutes.

I stepped back into my seat, exhausted but relieved.

India had taken its first real step into the Pokémon era.
