That book of Yu Xiaogang's was written by Su Cheng himself, specifically for Bibi Dong to read.
Ten years ago, before Su Cheng returned from the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Eyes to Spirit Hall City, he went to Notting City to meet Yu Xiaogang once and discussed a deal with him.
Su Cheng first helped him force his cultivation to level 30 in a short time by stimulating a large number of meridians and acupoints, overdrawing his life potential. Then he assisted him in absorbing a nearly 3,000-year-old pure-blood dragon-descendant soul beast soul ring.
With the help of this soul ring, it slightly compensated for the energy deficiency of his mutated martial soul, Luo San Pao. Although the improvement was only minor, to Yu Xiaogang it was nothing short of heavenly grace.
Yu Xiaogang's martial soul problem was not a simple malignant mutation, but rather a case of bloodline reversion in his martial soul, which instead led to degeneration due to insufficient energy.
It was just that no one else knew this.
What Su Cheng had previously said—that the path of martial soul completion was not applicable to Yu Xiaogang—was by no means a lie, because this was not a malignant mutation at all.
Moreover, there was already a considerable difference between beast-type martial souls and tool-type martial souls.
Su Cheng had read Yu Xiaogang's "Ten Core Competencies of Martial Souls." Some of the summaries were fairly decent, but more of them were superficial, and there were even quite a few fallacies.
Among them, the most typical was the martial soul mimicry theory.
Yu Xiaogang had merely seen the combat forms of martial souls, so he naturally assumed that attaching other attributes to a martial soul would be better.
In reality, he had not truly excavated the potential of the martial soul.
At the time, Su Cheng gave him a manuscript and had Yu Xiaogang publish it under his own name three years later.
To Yu Xiaogang, this was simply an opportunity he could only dream of. He almost wanted to immediately acknowledge Su Cheng as his master.
After that, things became very simple.
What Su Cheng said might not necessarily be believed by Bibi Dong, but Yu Xiaogang's theories she would certainly trust without question and even treat as a sacred text, taking it out to read whenever she had spare time.
Su Cheng knew that for Bibi Dong, the greatest difficulty of the Rakshasa God Trial lay in the torment of the mind. Previously, she had not realized at all that she could enhance her mental resistance through the strengthening of a beast-type martial soul.
Her understanding of martial souls was also not that deep. Along the way, she had relied entirely on her extraordinary twin martial soul talent to forcibly pile up her cultivation.
So he simply lent her a hand, and incidentally left behind a fatal hidden danger on her path to godhood.
Bibi Dong had to become a god—this was something Su Cheng had planned long ago.
Qian Renxue was not his puppet.
Su Cheng could indeed influence her.
But wanting her to act completely according to his own will—that was nothing but wishful thinking.
Only when the strength between the two sides was relatively balanced would Su Cheng have the chance to seize gains from the fire.
What's more, if the Seven Great Consecrators of the Spirit Hall were not dead, how could it be considered the destruction of Spirit Hall?
And among them, the most powerful in combat—the level 98 Golden Crocodile Douluo, and the level 97 Azure Kite Douluo and Lion Douluo—aside from Bibi Dong, Qian Renxue, and Qian Daoliu, who else could possibly kill them?
In the period that followed, Qian Renxue followed Qian Daoliu in diligently completing her divine trials, launching an assault toward the divine position.
Spirit Hall as a whole prepared for the All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Competition, with the Golden Generation of Spirit Hall Academy fully ready.
Everything seemed calm and peaceful.
However, the truth was not so.
Everyone among the high ranks of Spirit Hall could feel the undercurrents surging beneath the tranquil surface.
First, two elders of the Elder Hall with Titled Douluo–level cultivation went missing one after another while out on missions.
The last time such an incident occurred in Spirit Hall was more than ten years ago, when Qian Xunji was injured by Tang Hao of the Clear Sky School.
Bibi Dong was furious, yet for some unknown reason, she did not pursue a full investigation.
Su Cheng understood, however, that she was busy with her Rakshasa God Trial and had no time to spare.
But over the following year and a half, the Second Consecrator of the Consecrator Hall, Golden Crocodile Douluo; the Fourth Consecrator, Lion Douluo; and the Third Consecrator, Azure Kite Douluo, all went missing one after another.
The significance of these three people was far from comparable to that of ordinary elders.
For a time, Spirit Hall was filled with panic.
Half a year later, when the Pope Bibi Dong announced that she would enter secluded cultivation, it caused even greater unrest throughout Spirit Hall.
Yet no one knew where the source of everything lay—only that it felt as though some invisible hand in the shadows was guiding all these changes.
"What's wrong, Mr. Su?"
Seeing Su Cheng in front of him with a solemn expression, Yue Guan felt somewhat puzzled.
"The matter I mentioned to you before—it's time. As long as you and Elder Ghost both agree, the matter of the immortal herbs will be written off from now on. The Water Fairy Jade Muscle Bone, I will likewise present with both hands."
Upon hearing this, Yue Guan's expression also turned serious.
Those trivial matters of cultivating together with Su Cheng before naturally counted for nothing.
Moreover, Su Cheng did not need his guidance at all—they merely gathered from time to time to study the art of medicine together.
It was very clear that now was truly the time for him to fulfill his promise.
"Please speak, Mr. Su."
"I want to ask you and Ghost Douluo to withdraw from Spirit Hall from this point onward."
Hearing these words, Yue Guan's pupils shrank, his face filled with astonishment.
However, he did not refuse immediately.
After a slight pause, he involuntarily thought of the series of changes that had recently occurred in Spirit Hall.
He was among those closest to the center of the storm, and naturally had long sensed that the current Spirit Hall was very wrong.
"Mr. Su," Yue Guan's brows gradually furrowed, "you mean…?"
"Don't ask too much, and don't think too much. I only ask you—are you willing?" Su Cheng waved his hand, interrupting him.
"How about this: you and Elder Ghost go first to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and find my foster father, Chen Xin. The Water Fairy Jade Muscle Bone is currently with him."
"The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect… Sword Douluo Chen Xin?"
Yue Guan's body trembled slightly upon hearing this. For an instant, it seemed as though he touched upon some line of thought, yet he could not grasp that flash of insight.
"That's right." Su Cheng raised his eyebrows. "Elder Ju, do you still remember what I once said to you?"
"What?"
"People should always think more for themselves—if only for the sake of your old partner, right?"
"…" Yue Guan immediately fell silent, unwilling to continue thinking deeper along that line of thought.
Su Cheng continued, "If you're unwilling, that's fine too. You can first go find my foster father, then stay within the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect for three years. After three years, if you still want to return to Spirit Hall, that's entirely up to you."
"…"
After a long silence, Yue Guan looked at him deeply and nodded. "I understand."
Spirit Hall City, Douluo Hall.
At the center of the grand hall, the massive angel statue suddenly began to tremble without warning. Dense strands of golden light started to appear on the statue, radiating layers of intense golden light patterns.
"Boom—"
The entire angel statue shattered in an instant, turning into countless golden light particles surging in midair. At the core of the explosion, a figure fully clad in golden armor, with eight wings gently flapping behind her, hovered in the air.
More precisely, it was the Angel God, Qian Renxue.
On the Angel Sword raised high above her head, surging golden flames transformed into a golden pillar of light that shot straight into the sky, instantly breaking through the restraints at the top of the hall.
Massive waves of energy erupted in succession, making even the sun pale in comparison.
