Camilla's POV
Standing there with my arms crossed and my heart hammering against my ribs, I waited for his response. I had just demanded he end his affair, and I expected anger. Maybe denial. Perhaps even the cold shoulder he always gave me when conversations got too real.
Instead, Tom laughed.
Not a nervous chuckle or an uncomfortable laugh. A full, deep laugh that seemed to come from somewhere cruel inside him. His shoulders shook slightly as he looked at me like I had just delivered the punchline to some twisted joke.
My eyebrows pulled together in confusion and disgust. "What exactly is so amusing?"
He brushed at the corner of his eye as if wiping away a tear of laughter. "And why would I ever do that?"
The question hit me like a punch to the gut. "Because you have a wife," I said, my teeth clenched so hard my jaw ached. "You have a family. You have a daughter who loves you. And if you can't find it in yourself to respect me, at least think about Joy."
