Elisabeth's POV
The world tilted when they carried Jefferson through the estate doors. Blood painted his chest in crimson streaks, his usually commanding presence reduced to lifeless weight in their arms. My breath caught in my throat, every instinct screaming that this couldn't be real.
He looked so still. Too still.
Around me, chaos erupted. Javier shifted back to human form, accepting clothes from trembling omegas before disappearing to find Alana. The backup team had returned without Gordon, leaving behind only questions that clawed at my chest.
What went wrong out there?
My feet finally obeyed, carrying me after the healers who rushed Jefferson toward his chambers. Their urgent voices blended into white noise as my heart hammered against my ribs. This was Jefferson. He didn't get hurt like this. He didn't bleed this much.
He was supposed to be invincible.
"What happened to him?" The words scraped past my lips, barely audible.
