"Is it just me, or does your mother have this whole intimidating goddess thing going on?"
I shot Alana a withering look and aimed a smack at her head, which she ducked with practiced ease. "Stop being ridiculous. People aren't staring at her."
Alana's eyebrows shot up as she gestured around the terminal. "Are you blind? Look around, Elisabeth. Half the men here are practically drooling."
I refused to acknowledge what was painfully obvious. My mother had always possessed an aura that commanded attention, but today felt different. Age had refined her beauty into something almost untouchable, like a masterpiece behind museum glass. Selene Kendrick moved through crowds the way royalty moved through peasants, expecting the world to part before her.
