Ana's POV
Darius and Pauline clearly didn't appreciate my harsh words about Aileen, but since they desperately needed my help, they swallowed their anger.
"Look, you've got connections with Mr. Vernon now," Darius said. "Help us get a meeting with him. Consider it repayment for all those years we took care of you."
Worried I might say no, Pauline jumped in with her usual threats.
"Either you cough up two hundred million as payback for raising you, or don't think cutting ties will be that easy."
I couldn't help but laugh—the audacity was unreal. "When I signed that severance agreement, we were finished. You actually think you can shake me down for cash now?"
These two really had zero shame.
"Of course we can! You think severing ties is some simple thing? That paper means jack—without our say-so, you'll always be in debt to the Watson family!" Pauline snapped back.
She was clearly losing it, just trying to bully me into arranging that meeting with Edwin.
