Ana's POV
When I walked in, Carly immediately stood up to greet me. "Hey Ana, you made it! Come on, have a seat," she said.
Carly seemed completely different from when I'd encountered her at the company earlier.
At the office, she'd maintained this polished elegance, every gesture carefully controlled and refined.
Now, though, her smile reminded me of a predator spotting easy prey—I couldn't shake the feeling she looked like some seasoned madam evaluating fresh talent for her establishment.
Carly guided me over and settled me into a chair.
The man seated across from me offered a warm smile.
He was attractive, with sharp features and an unmistakable academic air—clearly someone who spent his time buried in books.
Carly shot me an apologetic look. "I'm sorry, Ms. Vernon. This is my son, Shawn Melody. He just returned from abroad for his grandfather's birthday party."
