Morris's POV
I slipped my phone back into my pocket, feeling a bit defeated. "You literally just walked away for a moment."
"A moment is plenty for digestion," Ana chimed back at me.
I could feel my frown deepening, ready to argue, but before I could get a word out, she hurried over and slipped her arms around my waist. She nestled against me, her voice going all soft and sweet in that way that always got to me.
"I've been running on empty for days now. I really need to crash and catch up on sleep. I barely touched lunch, so missing dinner this once won't kill me, right? Please let me sleep," she pleaded.
I might come across as laid-back most of the time, but when it comes to her health, I don't mess around—I'm strict about every detail.
I can be pretty stubborn about it too.
Just last night, after she went overboard with those midnight snacks, I'd given her a whole lecture about it.
