After Allison left, I clenched my right hand, the medicated patch still covering the wound. The dull ache persisted, though it wasn't as sharp as before.
Her words had stirred something in me.
Sure, I'd agreed to remain at Collin Mansion for now, but I could only stay with Preston for these remaining months. I wouldn't sacrifice my entire future for this arrangement.
With only some time before I was supposed to return to the Vernon family, I had to settle the divorce with Ridley during this window.
Tomorrow, I'd have that conversation with Ridley. Since he was head over heels for Aileen, I'd remove myself from the equation. He'd have no grounds to refuse.
The next morning, Ridley dragged me from bed before sunrise.
I cracked my eyes open to meet his furious stare.
His grip crushed my injured wrist, sending fire through the healing wound. My face drained of color as sweat beaded on my forehead.
