Chapter 42 - chapter 42: littel crane

Renewal, the man who is the founder of Blood Soul Core Formation, has returned for blood.

The Supreme Elder, who held his hands behind his back, started to shake.

The other immortals who stood before him trembled as well.

But he spat out with full anger:

"And why did you awaken him without even controlling him?"

The short woman looked down, her face pale, then slowly raised it.

"If the Supreme Elder of Region Continen hadn't died, we could have controlled him, but he is gone. We placed all the dead bodies in the main capital of Region Continen."

As she looked up,

It seemed he had returned now.

The Supreme Elder looked up.

"Mortal Ruler, I am back."

This was him, without a doubt.

He gritted his teeth.

As she waved her hand:

"This isn't my business, what happens with you people, but if anything happens to my Continen or my people, be warned—I will send each of you back to your Continen."

The woman shook with fear as she nodded.

"Call your strongest forces. We need to prepare. If Renewal has any hatred in his heart, we all must be ready to die."

The woman nodded.

One foolish important spoke out loud:

"But… we're not even sure he wants revenge. For the mortal world, wasn't he a good guy?"

Slap.

The man received a slap to his face.

The Supreme Elder yelled:

"Fool! Didn't you read the story about him hating humans and wanting to be like the Mortal Ruler? He was only a good person because of the Mortal Ruler, but he was very cruel when the Mortal Ruler wasn't with him. He killed a whole sect for a single artifact that he didn't even use the next day!"

The dumb immortal looked down, embarrassed.

The leader of Zhou Sect looked behind.

"We are going to prepare for war now. Bring all of your men, but let the woman and child stay in Intrige Region Continen—with only a few of your men."

The woman bowed, cupping her fist.

"Thank you. But before we go, I have to tell you one thing."

"What?" he asked, unprovoked.

The woman spat out, her eyes shaking:

"We also have three immortals who possess the Blood Soul Core artifact. They're going to enslave Renewal, and he would awaken every single one of our ancestors."

The leader of Zhou Sect froze.

"But…" the woman quickly continued, "the chance is only one percent. But if we catch them fast, we could stop it. Even if we don't… Renewal would kill them outside the barrier of the capital of Region Continen."

The leader of Zhou Sect sighed.

He waved his hand, and a stage-three immortal ran off to summon the others.

The leader of Zhou Sect flew out of his gate and toward a small hill covered by deep grass.

He stood there with a plain expression.

He thought to himself:

"I wish I didn't have any tribulation coming my way."

There stood a large bell, flanked by two immortal guards in strong suits of armor.

Each of them froze at the sight of the leader of Zhou Sect.

They bowed down.

"Greeting, Supreme Elder."

The Supreme Elder sighed, walking forward to pay his respects as he bowed down.

"Sorry to say this, but we are preparing for war."

The two immortals looked up, seeing the Blood of Torrent.

"Mortal Ruler, I'm back."

They looked back. One of the immortals stretched his hand forward.

"Has something bad happened, Supreme Elder? We've seen the Blood of Torrent in the sky, but we don't actually know what… wait."

One of them muttered:

"Wasn't it prophesied that someone with the Blood Soul Core Formation would bring destruction to the world?"

The Supreme Elder nodded.

He picked up a hammer that lay on a wooden chair.

Looking behind him, he said:

"Renewal has returned for bloodshed, and we have to prepare."

He slammed the hammer against the bell.

Its ringing echoed for miles.

This location, where the bell stood, was inside an invisible pagoda hidden from the world. It sat on a large hill, overlooking a vast wooden bamboo city.

The two guards were speechless.

The Supreme Elder looked behind him again.

"Prepare now!"

The two immortals nodded.

They moved forward and upward.

As a visible pagoda appeared, they flew to an open window.

The Supreme Elder yelled:

"Tell my men—we are meeting at the hidden capital!"

The two immortals nodded.

"Oh, you didn't even tell us where to meet. Thanks for reminding us, Supreme Elder."

The Supreme Elder wiped sweat from his forehead.

"Man, I was a bit foolish. I should have told them earlier."

He looked up.

"Please… Pristine and Kong Rian… please survive."

Far away, at Awaken Mountain:

Mingyin looked up, his eyes frozen.

"That has to be the return of Renewal, who has the power to declare, 'I am back, Mortal Ruler.'"

His whole body shook.

The rest of the crowd froze.

"Hey, what's happening?"

"Beat me, I don't even know what's happening…"

Wait… wasn't it prophesied that a Blood Soul Core immortal would bring ruin to the mortal world?"

"Yes… isn't that correct? What's happening now?"

"I am slowly feeling a bit afraid…"

"Wait… look!"

Suddenly, the Future Overlord flew over.

He opened his arms wide.

"My great-great-great ancestor is back!"

Mingyin looked up, his eyes slowly defrosting from the void.

"Wait a minute… great ancestor? That means…"

His eyes slowly hardened as an invisible aura erupted from Mingyin's body toward the Future Overlord.

For the first time in a very long time, the Overlord felt dread.

He looked up, seeing Mingyin's anger.

"So you're really—"

Before he could finish, a loud explosion occurred.

The rest of the immortals slowly raised their heads.

The whole ground shook with immense force.

Mingyin stepped back slowly, his heart dropping.

"I am dead!"

Suddenly, the sky darkened.

The rest of the immortals froze as they saw a massive pagoda in the air.

Immortal Continen.

A vast area covered by thick, tall bamboo walls with a stone floor.

Farmers walked along with their caravans.

A mother was playing with a young boy, chasing a butterfly, crossing toward a shop. Some bystanders yelled:

"Hey, look at your surroundings!"

But the girl and boy ignored them. Suddenly, the boy slowed.

He froze, and slowly turned back as his sister came rushing toward him.

He held her, nearly steadying himself.

"Don't you find it strange… it's getting dark?"

The girl sprang behind him, looking up at the darkening sky.

"What is happening?" she asked herself.

An old man sitting on a bank looked up, eyes nearly popping out.

"The Golden Era!"

At Region Continen,

Mingyin saw the rest of the crowd step away from him as his whole body shuddered with fear.

As a voice vibrate in the air

"Find Mingyin, the Culprit of Fate Building! He's the one holding the Life and Death Artifact!"

Mingyin took a step back as the crowd stared at him.

"Is it him?"

But Mingyin quickly waved his hand:

"That doesn't make sense! I'm not the culprit. If I had the Fate Building, you would have seen a pagoda near me!"

The crowd hesitated.

The Future Overlord yelled:

"But nobody in the crowd is named Mingyin! That name belonged to the man hunted by the Supreme Elder until he died fighting a thousand immortals. And your name… it's just like his!"

Mingyin froze.

"When did I tell them my actual name?"

He held the crystal to his chest.

"Don't tell me…"

Suddenly, realization struck him.

"When I was playing a game with Magman, I said I don't fear death… but that was wrong. I do fear death. But the crystal is piercing me… and I forgot that I didn't care about my own death. Wait… it's the crystal in my body that wants me to die!"

And he had said his name without even realizing it.

He smiled, looking forward.

They didn't know his real body was hidden in the crowd as Ming Jin.

He smiled…

Then stopped smiling.

He noticed the old man in the tree looked dead… but no… it didn't make sense. He shook his head.

"I need to plan everything correctly. I can't wait for anyone to save me. I need to awaken my Soul Force energy, run away, and focus on becoming stronger for the world's tribulation."

He brought his fist down to his waist.

"If the crystal wants me to die, then I have to prepare to fight. Even if it costs my limbs, I survive to this point and have always been fighting for my goal."

He thought to himself:

"For peace… that was the only reason i Mingyin is still standing today. And for my family, to see them again. Who wants to die? Who wants to surrender to death? I need to survive and rely only on myself."

Suddenly, the real Mingyin, with the scar across his face, quickly appeared, smiling as he accused the copy of himself:

"I know that you're the culprit, my cousin!"

The whole crowd looked in awe, seeing Ming Jin stand against a sage artist.

He yelled:

"Don't lie to me, fool!"

The copy of Mingyin simply brushed it off.

"Fool… what can you possibly do against me?"

But Mingyin snorted.

"Even though I am a little-grade Stage One, I will still kill you!"

The whole crowd froze.

This guy was facing a sage artist… and survived.

"Isn't he brave enough to die?"

Mingyin smiled.

"Good. If I just make my clone vanish, I won't be hunted down."

He sent a visible aura, pushing one immortal down.

"What the heck!"

He yelled.

"This guy could shake a little-grade Stage Two like me!"

Ming Jin vanished before him.

The rest of the crowd froze.

He dissolved into nothing, simply from Mingyin's presence.

He didn't even have time to scream—and he was only a little-grade one!

"Are my eyes deceiving me? He is beyond powerful!"

But the Future Overlord felt something strange. Something amiss.

"Don't tell me… Mingyin is a clone of Ming Jin?"

"Hmm… whatever. I needed Mingyin to enter the mountain. But I think whatever wrote that message—our leader—sent it to me to kill Mingyin."

"This is weird. To kill Mingyin now… the return of the Mortal Ruler world… what does that mean?"

Suddenly, Mingyin, who was praised, went forward.

"No time to waste. I don't know what's happening, but we should go to the mountain."

The rest of the crowd nodded, moving forward with the Future Overlord, the Woman of Peace, and Magman—Magman who was sad seeing Moonshine go away.

They all moved on, not even caring about Moonshine's death.

The Future Overlord pressed the Six Treasure Core against the mountain. A stone wall appeared at the surface.

Mingyin clenched his fist.

"I need to awaken now. I cannot rely on anyone."

He brought his hand forward.

"True carp fish swim toward the river to find their food… isn't that my goal? Fight against the current while being hunted by bigger fish."

As the stone wall opened, it revealed a hidden galaxy space.

The rest of the crowd went inside.

But suddenly…

A voice could be heard:

"Nobody is taking my mountain away! I am preparing for the Mortal Ruler's return!"

Mingyin's eyes turned cold. The rest of the crowd froze.

Mingyin was the only one to enter the mountain.

He saw the hidden space.

"So I am the only one, huh?"

The Awaken Mountain, piercing the sky, started to shake as the ground rumbled.

The rest of the immortals flew back.

Mingyin was the only one allowed to enter.

His eyes widened.

"What is happening?"

Above the mountains floated in the air, a massive structure wrapped in soul energy.

Far away, Renewal, who had awakened, stared up as he climbed out of the chasm.

He looked around at a pebble city spread beneath him.

His eyes widened.

"Isn't that my secret base… me and the Mortal Ruler?"

He saw a large mountain floating in the air.

Inside the mountain, Mingyin floated in the hidden space.

"Where am I?" he asked himself, turning his head back to see a faint light.

He hesitated for a moment.

"So this is inside the mountain? Huh… isn't there six realms? This is quite weird… so this must be the first realm."

He began to swim upward as his body felt lighter.

Suddenly, a voice spoke behind him.

"Yeah, you're right, Master. It's quite weird… we're all alone here?"

Mingyin turned.

To his shock, it was Magman.

"Magman!"

He yelled as Magman floated behind him.

"What is wrong, Master?"

Mingyin sighed to himself.

"I didn't think you would have come all the way here alone."

Magman smiled, clapping his hands.

"Yes! Magman and Mingyin are going to defy Heaven!"

Mingyin waved his hand, scratching his chin as he looked up.

"Hmm… kinda weird. Where should we go?"

Suddenly, Magman, who was behind Mingyin, stopped following and turned around.

"Wait… look, Uncle Mingyin!"

Mingyin snorted.

"I am not your—"

He turned, froze.

Ahead of him was a giant head, made of small armor-like metal with glass surrounding its surface, covered in fossil roots.

It spun in the air.

Mingyin suddenly felt something in his mind.

"I think I saw this in my regression…"

"Wait a minute!"

He could not recall anything in his memory.

"Strange… I should have known this. Haven't I regressed millions of times? How could I not know this?" he thought to himself.

"I need to find a way to remember my past memories. How would I survive without the greatest advantage in the Mortal World?"

Mingyin suddenly noticed the light behind him growing brighter. He covered his face from the intensity.

His jaw dropped.

A massive crane with black feather-like skin, and a beak covered in deep fractured armor, flapped its wings, sending a whirlwind that threw Mingyin and Magman backward.

"Isn't this a mystical beast?" Mingyin asked himself.

He sent out a protective phantom, flying toward Magman. Magman stretched his hand forward.

"Halt! Who are you?" Mingyin shouted.

The crane yelled, but then a human voice came from its beak:

"Stupid human! I am a land spirit animal, and I am here to protect humans from entering!"

Mingyin's eyes widened.

"Oh… I should have known that! That thing speaks!"

Magman shouted excitedly:

"It's so cute!" His eyes turned like a baby's.

But the crane yelled:

"Shut up, stupid human! Who allowed you to enter this mountain?"

Mingyin's eyes nearly popped out.

"Fool! This is Awaken Mountain! Of course cultivators will come here to loot things, idiot!"

The crane raised a finger, waving its hand forward.

"I know that, human!" it laughed loudly.

Mingyin froze.

"Fool, didn't you say something different? Tsk!"

Magman nodded.

"Yeah, it's quite an idiot, but a fool. But it is a crane, of course, with lacking intelligence."

The crane raised its head.

"What? I am not a crane, you fool! Can't you see?"

Mingyin and Magman looked at each other.

"What?"

They spoke out loud. Mingyin spat, saliva falling from anger.

"What kind of stupid animal are you? Why… tsk… this rascal?"

Magman nodded.

But the crane nodded too.

"Ahh, you fell for my joke."

Mingyin looked confused.

"I was just talking like a fool myself," he thought.

He held his face as sweat poured down his forehead.

"If word got out that I was arguing with an animal… and someone with billions of regressions looked like a fool… I'd be worse than a fool!"

The crane nodded again.

"I was just joking, human. I am cra—"

"Shut the heck up, you foul beast!"

The crane froze, shaken by Mingyin's voice.

He breathed heavily.

"This is just pure disgrace."

Mingyin held his hand, blood dripping from it.

Magman came over.

"Mingyin! Your hand is bleeding!"

Mingyin patted his shoulder, cleaning the blood, and then patted his own hand.

"Stupidity, bastard."

Magman yelled:

"Hey! That is my cloth!"

Mingyin cursed, ignoring him.

"Cloth…"

Mingyin sighed, looking up as he floated away.

The crane froze.

"Hey! Where are you going, crane? Oh, you—"

Before it could finish, it felt Mingyin's killing intent.

It lowered its beak.

"Oh… oh… oh, human! Do you need instructions? Hehehe… ahahaha…"

But Mingyin simply ignored it.

"If I think clearly… I think that disk up there is a spirit too."but it cover by deep fossile like root
