Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 — The First Light That Rises

Rebirth - Part 4

Night fell quietly...

Eldenbrook, the small village at the foot of the hill, slept peacefully, oblivious that something was about to change forever.

Inside the simple wooden house of the Vale family, Mireille was awakened by a strange sound—a subtle pulse, like a distant echo heard only once. She thought it was a dream, until the air around her suddenly felt warm.

Aeran woke up a few seconds later.

"Did you feel that?"

Before he could move, Eryon's cry erupted from the corner of the room.

But what froze them was not the cry itself—it was something that emerged from Eryon's small body.

Light.

A soft silver light, pulsing slowly, like a heart beating in the form of a shimmer. The light emanated from Eryon's chest, spreading out like droplets of water in the air.

"This… this can't be…" Mireille's voice was barely audible.

Aeran approached, but his steps were halted by a mix of awe and fear. Small circles of light began to form, rotating irregularly around Eryon's body.

It wasn't the light of a lamp.

Nor was it the reflection of the moon.

This was magic—something that should have been extinct.

The Village Begins to Wake

Silent Eldenbrook slowly rose as a subtle tremor crept throughout the area. Oil lamps flickered on. An unusual wind blew, carrying small sparkles like light dust.

Residents emerged from their homes with confused faces.

"What was that?"

"It wasn't an earthquake…"

"There's a light coming from the Vale house…"

But none dared to approach too closely.

Something in the air made them hesitate.

In the distance, a small girl with silver hair—Lira—stood in front of her window. She only saw the sky suddenly glowing softly, as if a silver flash was rising from one of the houses.

She didn't know what was happening. She only knew the night felt… different.

And after a few seconds, she closed the window again, unaware that the glow originated from a child who would eventually bind her destiny.

The Peak of Light

Inside the house, Eryon was crying loudly.

Each time he cried, the light pulsed.

Mireille reached for Eryon's small body and hugged him, trying to soothe him. Her touch softened the light, but it spread even further.

Aeran knelt and held his breath.

Then—

Hooommm—

A wave of silver light expanded from Eryon's body.

It didn't explode.

It didn't destroy.

But it carried a warm breath that swept out of the house, washing over the village like a morning breeze.

In that instant:

Leaves fluttered without wind.

The water in the pitcher was so fresh and clear.

Birds flew from the trees even though it was still dark night.

And after that one large pulse of light…

The light faded.

Everything returned to silence.

Eryon fell asleep again in Mireille's arms, as if nothing had happened.

A Hidden Fear

Aeran hugged Mireille from behind.

"We'll protect him. Whatever he is… he's still our son."

Mireille closed her eyes, tears tracing down her cheeks.

"If outsiders find out about this… they will take him away."

Aeran didn't deny it.

He knew it was true.

Magic, especially when it emerged from a child, was something that would shake the world if the news spread.

Eldenbrook After the Light

The next morning, the village was filled with whispers:

Wildflowers bloomed in the middle of winter, the air left a subtle sparkle like silver flakes, and animals seemed restless, as if they heard something inaudible to humans.

All the residents agreed:

"Something happened last night."

They just didn't know yet…

And Eryon, merely gazed at the sky with gray eyes that reflected the soft light, as if his soul was resonating with something no one else in this world possessed.

Something that had just awakened.
