Chapter 26 - 26

The restaurant door was pushed open again, and Foggy and Matt walked in.

As Foggy walked, he complained, "Matt, I told you we had to be earlier. You wasted too much time on that girl. Alvin's steak must be sold out by now."

Matt smiled and ignored Foggy's complaints. He looked well, as if he had rested very well these past two days. The guide cane spun fancifully in his hand and lightly tapped Foggy's waist.

Foggy jumped as if electrocuted, waving his hands and shouting, "OK! OK! Our great lawyer Matt is a conscientious lawyer, and you're definitely not because that girl is hot. Oh, and her voice is hot too!"

Foggy jumped out of Matt's attack range and, like a clown, did a Fat Tiger-version of Jackson's moonwalk to the bar. He greeted Michael and Scott with a laugh and called out to Alvin, "Alvin, you have to save me! My stomach tells me it needs you to save it now. Whatever it takes, I need to fill it up now."

Ginny had been sitting on a high stool at the bar. Misty's intimidation hadn't scared her, but Foggy's comical performance had attracted her attention. With her hands propping up her chin, she watched Foggy with interest.

Foggy noticed Ginny's attention, exaggeratedly covered his face with his hands, and quickly ran in place, like an excited fan, letting out a soft, high-pitched scream of "Ah~" "Wow~ Is this our little princess of Hell's Kitchen? Oh my god, you're so beautiful, you look like a real princess!"

Ginny giggled at Foggy's antics, clutching her little belly, and slid off the high stool.

Alvin, quick as a flash, caught Ginny, who was laughing so hard she was almost on the floor, and held her in his arms, glaring at Foggy. He ignored the clown and greeted Matt, "Hi~ Matt, you're looking good!"

Matt, wearing dark red sunglasses, looked particularly rosy, probably because he had rested well. He walked over and said with a smile, "The last two days have been great. A group of lovely little birds are always flying around Hell's Kitchen, Alvin, do you know why?"

Alvin chuckled and said, "Maybe the breadcrumbs I scattered on the roof are working, who knows? But this is a good thing, isn't it?"

Matt smiled easily and said, "It's a good thing. At least I've had two good nights' sleep." Then he took off his sunglasses, revealing his gray eyes, and made a funny face at Ginny in Alvin's arms.

Ginny was very curious; this was another different person, which made her very happy. These two days she had met several different people, and she felt that these people were all like her.

Misty, who had been left aside, was now turning green with anger. What kept her from lashing out was her last bit of police instinct. She might have also realized that something was wrong.

Alvin didn't know what was up with this Misty. But as a newly appointed chief, she immediately offended two of the most capable police officers in Hell's Kitchen. And she came to the Peace Hotel to show off her authority; her brain didn't seem to be very good.

Sighing, Alvin didn't want to make things difficult for her, after all, she was a police officer. Looking at Misty, he said, "Officer Misty, I hope you can retract your accusation against me. Everyone in the entire block knew that I was here last night and didn't go anywhere. If you suspect me, please show me a judge's warrant, and I will cooperate with your investigation. Don't casually pin a crime on someone else. Maybe you're used to doing that elsewhere, but this is Hell's Kitchen, and that won't work here!"

Misty's face was ashen, and she said coldly, "Yesterday, you negotiated with Black Bear, Bloody Jensen's subordinate. After the negotiations broke down, Black Bear and all his men were seriously injured and hospitalized. At the same time, Bloody Jensen's Long Island villa was attacked, and all 36 people died. Are you telling me this has nothing to do with you? I don't care about you scumbags fighting and killing, but among those 36 people, there were several innocent servants and gardeners. Don't let me find evidence; you will pay for this!"

Alvin looked speechlessly at the police chief of Big Apple City. The old fox held his lemonade cup and stared intently, as if he hadn't heard the conversation between Misty and Alvin.

Alvin ignored the impulsive female officer, smiled, and looked at Chief George, saying, "You must hate her very much to transfer her to Hell's Kitchen."

George couldn't remain indifferent to such an accusation and said seriously, "Ms. Misty Knight is a very excellent police officer. We believe her arrival will bring changes to the public order of Hell's Kitchen. That's why she was transferred here." His serious nonsense looked exactly like the American presidents who always appeared on TV.

George's words were so insincere that even Misty herself could hear it. She finally felt that she might have done something wrong. She glanced at Michael and Scott, saw them looking down silently, and then looked at Chief George with an ashen face.

Being stared at by his subordinates like that, even George, with his thick skin, couldn't quite handle it. He said with a wry smile, "I understand you, Alvin. I've seen all your information. You're an amazing guy. The changes you've brought to Hell's Kitchen in a year are more than what our police have brought in the past ten years. But the maintenance of public order ultimately still depends on us police. The chief position in Hell's Kitchen has been vacant for over a year, and Misty is the most suitable candidate for chief in my opinion. So she and I came here today to get to know you." He looked at Misty and Michael and Scott behind her, shook his head, and said with a wry smile, "I'm starting to doubt whether she's truly capable of the job."

George's words were sincere, and Alvin didn't doubt that he intended to cause trouble for him. Looking at Michael, he said, "Michael, for God's sake! Tell your new chief where I was yesterday?"

Michael awkwardly rubbed his nose and said, "Mr. Alvin was at the restaurant all day yesterday and had a negotiation with Black Bear. The content of the negotiation was to keep the other party away from the children in the school and the minors in the community. And Black Bear is currently unharmed, so I have reason to believe that Mr. Alvin has nothing to do with the Long Island incident. Because there's no need."

Misty looked at Michael suspiciously, her face ashen, and said nothing. She now felt incredibly foolish. She could feel the rejection and distrust of her by the officers within the police department. She impulsively chose a completely wrong target to establish her authority, and in front of her superior, she showed him her dumbest side. Has anyone ever had a more embarrassing first day in office than her?

Alvin looked at Misty and said, "Officer Misty, I welcome you to Hell's Kitchen as the chief of the police department, but you first have to prove that you are a qualified officer before everyone will listen to you. This is the rule in Hell's Kitchen, whether on the streets or in the police department, it's the same."

Misty looked at Alvin and said coldly, "So, how do I prove that I'm the right person?"

Alvin laughed heartily and said, "It's simple, come and brave Hell's Kitchen at night."

Misty said somewhat incredulously, "Is that all it takes?"

Alvin said with a smile, "A week from now, as long as you're not dead or haven't run away, I'll be the first to say, 'Welcome to Hell's Kitchen!'"
