Writing is actually quite difficult. The reason I wanted to write X-23, Laura Kinney, into the book was because of the movie Logan. The old Wolverine and Laura in it were just too endearing.
Originally, X-23 should have been called Laura Ye in the book, but as a novice, I rely on a sense of immersion to write scenes of interacting with a child. When I see the name Laura, I always think of Angelina Jolie's 'big lights,' and I really can't associate that name with my daughter's character.
