~Becklan's POV~
The smile died instantly.
It wasn't Leon.
It was Theo, standing there with an unsettling calm, his eyes glinting coldly. A twisted, triumphant smirk curved his lips, and the sight of it sent an icy knot straight through my stomach.
He didn't wait for an invitation. Before I could even wrap my head around the fact that he was standing there, Theo stepped forward, forcing me to stumble back as he invaded my space. He shut the door behind him with a sharp, final click that echoed through the apartment.
"Nice place," he sneered, his eyes scanning the room with obvious disdain. "A bit small, but I suppose it's a step up from wherever Leon found you."
"What are you doing here, Theo?" I managed to find my voice, though it sounded thinner than I wanted. I gripped the back of a kitchen chair. "Leon isn't here."
