The air between us was thick and suffocatingly hot. I could feel the steady thrum of his heartbeat through his shirt. "You're too close," I murmured, my breath hitching. "You know that, right?"
"I know," he breathed. The air between us was electric, charged with a tension so thick it felt like it could snap at any second. He didn't pull away; instead, his gaze dropped to my lips, lingering there with a dark, restless hunger that he seemed to be fighting with every fiber of his being
"You don't want me," I murmured, the insecurity I tried so hard to bury rising again. "I'm ugly to you… just a bone body. Isn't that how you see me?"
Leon's jaw tightened, his pulse visible in his neck. He gave a slow, reluctant nod, his honesty cutting through me like a blade. "Yes," he murmured, his voice dropping to a gravelly, hypnotic low. "You're so ugly... There is no possible way I could ever want someone like you."
