Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Kenneth's POV

"Hmm…" I hummed, my chest rising and falling when I woke up from the nightmare I was

having. Sweat formed on my forehead, and my hands grabbed the sheets. Was this going to

keep hunting me?

The thought came over, and over again, but I tried my best to push it aside because I didn't want

anything to keep me from having sleepless nights.

Pushing myself up from the bed, I glanced at my clock to see it was almost time for work. I

headed to the bathroom, and instantly turned on the shower to cool me off from the fumes that

evaporated from me as a result of fear.

Once I had bathed, I got my teeth cleaned, and headed out. I immediately picked out the first

set of clothes to match the occasion.

I was having an important meeting at the office today, and it had to do with my company, so I

wanted to look my best.

Once dressed, I took a little more time to adjust my time before heading towards my car.

The roaring sound of the engine confirmed the car had started, and I drove out to the company.

On getting there, my secretary took my bag, and immediately led me to the meeting room where

they were already waiting for me.

As soon as she dropped my bag, and I walked in behind her, I apologized.

"Good morning everyone, sorry for coming in late, I had some hold up."

They nodded their heads in understanding, and we all sat down, ready for the meeting.

My brother, and father were also seated there, and according to them, there was an essential

document we needed to sign, that was why I was here.

"Yes Mr Kenneth. We were hoping you would sign this." They handed me the documents, and

immediately began to explain.

"It's about the first funding we talked to you about."

Their eyes were fixed on me till I hummed, holding the pen close to the place that needed my

signature.

"We already made the lawyer go through it, and he said it was nice, so we just need you to

sign."

The more they repeated it, the more I wanted to know what exactly they were hiding from me.

I immediately started to go through the information written on the document, and my face went

from neutral to wrinkles forming on there.

"What Is this?!" I screamed, throwing the documents back to their side of the table.

"We just need you to sign in, there's no need for you to be feisty."

"Feisty? Did you realize what you were about to make me do?"

My brother heaved, and my father inched closer, placing his hands on the table.

"Listen, it's a good deal with a lot of profit. Partnering with him is going to make a lot of sense.

Why are you acting as though it's. Crime to do something like that?"

I scoffed, and shook my head "The next time something like this is going to happen, I'm going to

sue you both to court. I have my reasons for not signing the document, you better respect it." My

tone showed my warning, and I immediately walked away from there in anger, murmuring.

"Why on earth did they have to do something like that? They wanted me to sign a contract

because all they could see was money, but I knew who the owner of the company was.

My hands were fisted as I walked out of there, but there was something else I needed to do.

I exited the company, and walked towards my car, getting ready to go back to the hospital I was

at last night.

By the time I got to the hospital, I alighted my car, and made my way into the hospital. The first

person I was able to reach was the receptionist.

"Good day ma'am." I greeted, and she raised her head.

"Afternoon sir. How can I help you?" She responded, making me sigh.

"I want to know the room of the lady I brought in here last night."

She shook her head. "Um, do you have any information on the lady?" She asked, and I

immediately heaved in frustration.

"No. No, I don't have any info. I brought her here after an accident. I didn't know anything about

her earlier."

The receptionist shook her head. "Then I can't help you. I'm sorry, but it's for safeguarding."

"But I brought her here. I told you I don't know her–"

"I'm sorry sir, I can't help you." She was serious, returning her gaze back to her work.

In frustration, I immediately walked away from her, asking more nurses, but they all seemed to

give the same response.

Frustrated, I decided to immediately search for a plan, but right there, and then, I bumped into

the doctor in charge of her woman's case.

"Doctor!" He called in relief. "It's so good to see you. How's she?"

"Mr Kenneth, nice to see you." He paused, and stretched out his head. "She's fine. She just

needs rest, and there's also good news."

"Good news?" I was stunned, but was willing to hear it.

"Yes. She's conscious, and she's able to walk now, but will be undergoing therapy."

I nodded. "That's not the problem right now. Can you take me to her?"

He nodded, walking, and he gestured to me to follow him. I did, and once we got to the ward, he

allowed me in.

Upon entering, our eyes clashed, and I noticed how pale she became.

"No, please don't be scared, I mean no harm." I explained, and immediately managed to calm

her down.

I inched close to her, then I sighed, explaining everything that happened to her.

Once she had understood, I got on my knees.

"I know I did wrong by hitting you with my car. Please forgive me."

"Please get up, there's no need for this, please…" she begged, but I shook my head, "Please

get up. There's no need for–"

"I'm not leaving here till you forgive me, I will stay by your side for the rest of my life if I have to!"

I answered with determination.
