Chapter 2 - The War Continues: Luanna's Rules

Luanna POV:

Now I know exactly what Niall will do. He's so childish. Walking down the hallway, I saw a grinning Niall and my locker nearby. I didn't say this out loud, but I'm quite good at acting, so I put on a full performance. I walked up to him.

"Um, Niall," I mumbled, "Could you maybe show me where the lecture hall is? I can't find anything familiar, and you're in your second year." He looked confused but quickly recovered.

"Yeah, I can," he replied simply.

"Great, well let's just go to my locker first," I said, and he nodded with a grin.

Niall followed me all the way to my locker. I unlocked it, and as I pulled it open, I quickly jumped to the side. All the colorful paint splashed over him. Everything was the same as before, only he was the one suffering this time.

"You're so predictable," I chuckled. "Good luck cleaning up," I wished him and walked out.

Everyone was giggling or discussing what had just happened. I like the attention, so I didn't mind. Niall was so annoyed and angry that it only made me laugh harder. He went to the restroom, and I went to my remaining classes.

^ After Classes ^

"Finally!" I yelled. El snickered. "So, what are we doing?"

"Maybe we can go to the stadium? The guys are having practice there, and Louis will be there," she said dreamily. I chuckled, but nodded. They'll probably be shirtless, and I won't say no to that.

There was almost no one in the stands, beside a few students. We sat in the first row, and the guys started playing soccer. It wasn't as impressive as a real match, but it was fine. Niall was dribbling the ball, but his shots at the goal were often way off. I started laughing out loud, and everyone turned to look at me.

"What's wrong with you?" Louis asked.

"My grandma plays better than him," I laughed.

Niall frowned, but didn't give up.

"Well, if you're so good, prove it," he said with a scornful smile.

"With pleasure," I replied, jumping over the seats and walking toward them.

They were watching me intently. "But we have to make a bet," I reminded them.

"We bet you can't score a goal with Niall defending the net," the goalie said.

"How much?" I raised an eyebrow.

"$20!" someone else yelled, and we shook hands.

Someone had already started the countdown when we heard a voice:

"Guys, what is going on here?" I realized it was their coach. My eyes widened as I turned to him.

"Henry!" I screamed and ran toward him.

"Lu!" he hugged me.

"You two know each other?" Niall asked.

"He's my uncle," I smiled. "Sorry, but we'll talk later. I have work to do," I said, giving him an evil smile and rubbing my hands together.

"Wait up, guys," Henry said. "Are you serious about betting with her?" he chuckled.

"Yeah?" the goalie replied. My uncle started laughing.

"How much?"

"$20."

"Well, boys! Congratulations on losing," I laughed. "You got yourselves into something serious. Alright!" he yelled. "Let's finish the bet," and giving me a high-five, he walked away.

The three of us took our positions and waited for the whistle. As soon as Henry blew it, I immediately started dribbling the ball. Niall ran up to me and tried to knock it out, but I dribbled around him. When I was in the right position, I shot the ball at the goal. I hit it right into the bottom right corner. When the ball hit the net, Henry started clapping, along with the coach.

"Hand over the money!" I laughed. Niall gave me the money, and the other guys were still staring wide-eyed.

"Lu!" Henry rushed over to me. "What do you think about being on the team?" he asked, and now Niall was staring wide-eyed too.

"What?" Niall and I asked together.

"You heard me," he laughed. "What do you think, guys?" the coach asked them, and they started whistling, clapping, and cheering supportively. "Well, what do you say?"

"It's a definite yes!" I screamed.

"Well, then we'll see you tomorrow, here at 2:30 PM," he smiled.

I nodded and, with a scornful grin, walked over to El.

"I can't believe it!" she shrieked.

"Me neither!" we started jumping in the air.

"We have to celebrate," she said, calming down.

"Come on! Let's go to Nando's!" I yelled, and we started walking.

Niall POV:

I couldn't understand her words. What did she mean? I stood up and walked over to the table. The guys were giggling there, trying to hold back their laughter.

"The bully got bullied," Harry snickered, for which I hit him on the head.

"Shut up," I slumped down next to him.

"What did she mean?" Liam asked, intrigued.

"I have no idea, but all I know is that it's war," I smirked.

"So far, it looks like she's fighting the war, and you're just trying to stay alive," Zayn laughed, but stopped when he saw my glare.

"Let's just go to class," I sighed, standing up from the table, as did everyone else. "What do we have now?"

"Music," Louis replied.

I sighed heavily, and we headed toward the classroom. Honestly, it's fun being the most popular, but Luanna doesn't care, which draws me to her even more. I'm already planning how to get her into bed.

I scanned the people sitting in the lecture hall. A few nerds, whispering couples, just friends, and in the back, a bored Luanna, who was sitting with her feet on the table, staring at the ceiling.

"Why is she here? She's a freshman," I said, confused.

"Music is a combined course, dummy," Louis replied.

She and El were sitting in the second-to-last row, so we quickly sat down right behind them. Luanna didn't even react to our presence. A few minutes later, the new teacher came in. He looked young, so it would be easy. Smiling, I relaxed in my chair and started throwing paper wads at Luanna while the teacher introduced himself. I couldn't figure it out; she wasn't reacting to me and just kept drawing on a piece of paper.

"Miss, take your feet off the desk," the teacher said.

"On one condition," she replied, lifting her head.

"And what is that?" he raised an eyebrow. You could tell they were flirting. Well, what did it matter? Let them.

"You," she said, pointing, "kick the idiot behind me out of the lecture," she stated, which no one expected. The lecturer clearly looked flustered.

"Um, alright. Young man, out," he said, pointing to the door. I stared, open-mouthed, and didn't move. "Come on, chop-chop!" he urged. Annoyed, I gathered my things and left. She even managed to wink at me.

I sat down in the cafeteria, still unable to believe it. It felt like I knew her, but I doubted it. The most important thing is that we're at war, and she's clearly winning. I thought of playing a little prank on her. Actually, it reminds me of six years ago. That girl. I wonder if she's still the same—weak, a crybaby. I laughed at my own thoughts. Well, this is going to be fun.

Just like the good old days...

"Oh no, Louis. I haven't lost before, and I never will," I said clearly.

"Do what you have to do, but don't forget! You could easily become that girl you used to bully. You could become the victim who started the war," he said, placing his hand on my shoulder.

"That will never happen, Louis. Now let's go eat. I'm starving," and he simply nodded in agreement.

"I'm with you," Josh said, and we changed and left.

Entering the café doors, we rushed to the cash register first. We ordered and talked while we waited, until Josh interrupted everything.

"Hey! Look who's sitting at that table," he said, pointing to the table on the far right, where Luanna was sitting with El and laughing happily at something.

"Well, at least we found seats," Louis shrugged. I sighed and picked up my order.

We sat down at the table. El immediately slid over, accepting Louis, while a grinning Luanna crossed her legs over the empty sofa.

"Oh, come on," Josh chuckled. "Don't be so unfriendly."

"Hey man, if you think that's unfriendly, you haven't seen unfriendly people," she laughed and kept eating.

"So Louis can sit here, but we can't?" I asked.

"Well... He's tolerable," she said after thinking for a moment. "And El likes him, and they're practically a couple, so yeah, he can sit here," she smiled with a fake expression.

"Lu, just take your legs off the sofa," El sighed.

"On one condition," she smirked, and El started laughing. Ah, she's doing the same thing she did during the lecture.

"What condition?" she asked.

"Hmm… That he doesn't try to shove paint into my locker anymore, because if he does, I'll hit him," she said, and Louis nodded. She slowly lowered her legs, and I was about to sit down when she quickly pulled Josh first, and he slumped onto the sofa. I could see how satisfied Josh was with himself, but seeing my gaze, he quietly giggled and started eating.

We ate in awkward silence. I watched as Josh put his hand on Luanna's knee. I felt a brief pang of jealousy. Wait, why would I be jealous? His hand started moving higher, and Lu turned to him.

"If I were you, I wouldn't do that," she told him while eating. He ignored her.

"Josh... listen to her," El warned. He just snickered. Luanna shrugged and then raised her hand and punched him across the face with her elbow. He grabbed his nose, and she started laughing hysterically. El joined in the laughter, but Louis and I were horrified.

"That's not funny," Louis said, who was still in shock.

"It wouldn't be so funny if I hadn't warned him," the girl continued, laughing. Josh got up without saying a word and went to the restroom to fix his bleeding nose.

"You know. I thought college would be boring, but I was totally wrong—it's perfect! There's just one problem that ruins my mood," she said, leaning back into the sofa.

"And what is that?" El asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Him," she said, poking me in the chest.
