Chapter 3 - 3

Mr. Zhou's silence did not interrupt Professor Charles's enjoyment of the conversation, but he wisely shifted the topic to something both sides were interested in.

"Your ability is very powerful. Are you interested in doing a System test with us?"

"A test? What do you mean? And Professor, forgive my frankness, but I'm afraid my ability is not from the X-gene as you might think." Mr. Zhou was unaccustomed to Professor Charles's enthusiasm. He knew his body well; all his superpowers were probably related to things from his previous Transmigration.

"Whether you are a Mutant or not is not important at this moment. What's important is that you are a super-powered individual. In the eyes of humans, you are no longer one of them, and we stand in the same camp." Professor Charles smiled, extended his hand, pointed to Mr. Zhou's chest, and then pointed to himself. "You, I, and all people in this World with extraordinary abilities are in this camp."

Mr. Zhou had no way to refute this point. He thought for a moment and asked, "What does that test mean?"

"On this point, I think Jean will have more to say." Professor Charles smiled kindly, stepped aside, and gave his favored Disciple a chance to show her talent.

It was then that Mr. Zhou began to carefully observe Jean Grey, the red-haired beauty.

She was a beauty who looked quite intellectual. Her features were delicate and charming, and her vibrant red shoulder-length hair not only highlighted her independent and capable demeanor but also accentuated the fair skin of her swan-like graceful neck. Beneath a White lab coat was a perfectly fitted women's suit, which showcased her impressive figure to the fullest, and also gave off a mysterious feeling. In short, she was a stunning beauty.

Jean Grey ignored Mr. Zhou's gaze. To her, Mr. Zhou, who was six or seven years younger than her, was just a young boy. Facing Mr. Zhou's gaze, she spoke with a poker face, as if she were looking at a large radish.

"As is well known, the purpose of establishing Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters is to help Mutants, and the situation of Mutants is very special. Even Professor, with his powerful Divine Power, can only sense Mutants who have awakened the X-gene in the World with the aid of machines. For those who have not yet awakened, even Professor is powerless. And if we cannot detect the unawakened, we cannot prevent trouble before it happens. It is very possible that by the time we find them, an irreversible tragedy has already occurred. Therefore, over the years, we have been committed to the study of the X-gene, hoping to find the law of its Awakening. And in the process of seeking this law, we have also developed corresponding methods for testing the magnitude of abilities."

"What does that have to do with me? I said, I am not a Mutant." Mr. Zhou emphasized. Mr. Zhou was not convinced by Jean Grey's statement. How powerful Charles's Divine Power truly was might deceive others, but it could not deceive him, a Transmigrator. The most powerful Mental Energy manipulator in history was no joke.

"The X-gene is too singular for us, lacking comparative subjects. Henry and I believe that if we had genes from different ability users as reference points, it would help our research progress. Whether you are a Mutant or not, to us, as long as you are willing to participate in the test, it will be helpful."

"We will not force you to do anything; everything is at your discretion." Jean Grey concluded.

Mr. Zhou thought about this suggestion. He didn't fully understand what his abilities were. Although he had been studying his superpowers since his Awakening, what he could now clearly understand and skillfully use were only Force Field and Telekinesis, as well as his constantly strengthening Super Physique after his Awakening. As for the others, he only had a vague grasp and had not obtained more information. Therefore, he was actually quite looking forward to the test at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.

However, Mr. Zhou was always very reluctant to be a guinea pig. He didn't want to end up like some unlucky super-powered individual who, after being a guinea pig, suddenly gained tens of thousands of younger sisters. One Charisse was enough for him.

But after thinking for a while, Mr. Zhou felt it was necessary to take a risk. After all, Charisse had joined Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. If his memory served him correctly, Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters had many enemies. Whether it was the Military's X-organization or the Brotherhood of Mutants, both had many grievances with Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Although Charisse's abilities were still unknown, as an older brother, there was no need to let his younger sister put herself in danger. What he needed to do was use his own Divine Power to protect his family. This point had never changed.

Professor Charles was very happy to receive Mr. Zhou's agreement. For him, this was extremely beneficial for Mutants, and for Mr. Zhou, it was also a way to improve his own Divine Power. This was mutually beneficial for both parties.

Professor Charles smiled and patted his wheelchair, saying,

"Darling Mr. Zhou, I am very pleased that you have made a choice that is correct for both of us. Although I would very much like to accompany you to see your abilities, I regret that this thing beneath me is not very convenient. However, I think Jean's company will always be more pleasant than that of an old man like me. Of course, you don't have to worry about Ms. Zhou's safety; I think we have plenty of time to wait for you to return."

Jean Grey stepped forward at this moment and said to Mr. Zhou with a cold face, "Mr. Zhou Yi, please come with me."

Mr. Zhou nodded, stood up, and said to Professor Charles, "I hope you are worthy of my trust, Professor!" After speaking, he followed Jean Grey out.

Professor Charles watched him with a smile, his eyes as deep and serene as a quiet lake, as always.

As he walked along the path in the campus with Jean Grey, Mr. Zhou curiously observed the surrounding environment. Professor Charles's Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters was an Advanced academy expanded from Xavier's Mansion. In terms of teaching ability alone, it was not inferior to large universities with strong faculty, and in terms of scientific research, with the support of many high-IQ Mutants, Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters could be said to be very profound. At the very least, what it showed was no worse than some universities known for scientific research.

And in terms of living environment, Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters had both the elegance of those ancient mansions and various Advanced facilities filled with cutting-edge technology. In short, it was very satisfying. Especially for Mr. Zhou, who had a half-parental attribute.

As a guide, Jean Grey was also extremely satisfied with Mr. Zhou's current expression. For a Mutant, especially a member of the second class of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters personally taught by Professor Charles, her feelings for the academy were no different from those for her own home.

Mr. Zhou's admiring gaze naturally made her immensely proud. So, she put aside her initial prejudice against Mr. Zhou and no longer put on a cold face, starting to speak to him actively.

"The history of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters is not long, but I believe it is not inferior to any school, isn't it?"

"Of course, the school is great, and the teachers are great!" Mr. Zhou chuckled and joked with Jean Grey. "I wonder if I have the honor of inviting this great female teacher to dinner?"

Jean Grey's face turned cold. She stared at Mr. Zhou, and using her height, which was several centimeters taller than him at the moment, she gained an absolute advantage and said to him condescendingly, "I'm sorry, I have no interest whatsoever. Especially not in men whose bodies and minds are not yet fully developed."

"Alright, Young Miss." Mr. Zhou raised his hands and said, "I admit I may not meet your requirements right now, but I think with my current age and development, I should quickly reach your standard."

"Yi Zhou, I really want to try with a gamma knife right now to see how thick your skin is!" Jean Grey gritted her teeth and looked at Mr. Zhou, the surge of Mental Energy making the pebbles on the path float.

"Seriously, after we try it, can we go out for dinner and a movie or something?" Mr. Zhou walked two steps faster, almost pressing against Jean Grey. The surging Mental Energy field around Jean Grey had almost no room for resistance under Mr. Zhou's stronger Telekinesis suppression.

Jean Grey, finding herself completely unable to deal with Mr. Zhou's rogue behavior, could only stiffen her face and quicken her pace towards the laboratory.

Seeing this, Mr. Zhou shrugged knowingly and followed silently. The joke had gone far enough; if he teased her any further, Jean Grey would probably really lose her temper.

Although he didn't know where he went wrong, Mr. Zhou understood that a date and further development with this Mutant beauty in front of him were probably out of the question. On this point, Mr. Zhou could only sigh. Having seen so many mature older sisters in this World, the difficulty of conquering them was indeed much higher than that of simple schoolgirls. This move used to be foolproof in school.

Thinking and walking, the two quickly arrived at the research lab of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.

Jean Grey consciously avoided many people, leading Mr. Zhou directly to a laboratory that appeared to have a very high level of security. She first verified her iris, then pressed the keypad on the side, quickly entered the password with her Mental Energy, and finally opened a communication device, speaking into it.

"Ororo, it's me. Professor wants me to bring someone over for some research."

As soon as Jean Grey finished speaking, the steel door standing before them split open along an X-shaped track, revealing a deep, dark passageway inside.

Seeing this, Mr. Zhou couldn't help but say, "I can only say that your security measures here are probably more complex than the President's."

"In this World, many people target us Mutants!" Jean Grey frowned slightly and said, "Not just the human Government, but also some extreme Mutants. So, for the protection of the academy's secrets, we must do this."

Hearing this, Mr. Zhou nodded. Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters not only had Professor Charles's super-powered individuals but also many low-powered individuals and novices like Charisse who couldn't even control their abilities. To protect these people, if there weren't some secret methods and security measures, he would probably have to take Charisse back soon.

As the two passed through the passageway, the rays from all around made Mr. Zhou distinctly feel the detection of many instruments. To show his harmlessness, he released his Telekinesis defense, allowing these rays to touch him. He clearly felt as if he had eaten something. The activity of the Divine Power in his body had noticeably increased a little.

Well, problems were already being discovered before the test even began. He didn't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing. Mr. Zhou sighed silently in his heart and followed Jean Grey into the laboratory.
