Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - I Am Civ!

"Ugh!".

"My head hurts after sleeping for too long".

While he was trying to sit, he heard a gasp and shout from a little girl, "He is awake! Civ is alive!". He looked at the little girl running away as he questioned himself. Upon glancing forward, he noticed the little girl only wore dried leaves. "Civ? Me?!".

He started at his hand, startled by the unfamiliar skin complexion and environment. He tried to get up but the headache got worse and as he closed his eyes. Memories came running through his head. When the pain subsides, he remembers this body's memory. "I am Civ!".

In this body's memory, was in a tribe and the last thing he remembers is they were chased by giant human-like people. Civ faced these giants together with the other tribesmen to stall time while others fled. He was severely injured and rescued by his father. Right now he is in a cave recuperating his injuries.

His father arrived and immediately hugged his son while crying. "You are alive son! I thank the Sun goddess". Tears were smeared on Civ's shoulder and he hugged back his father. "Don't worry Father, I am still alive". His father looked around his son's body and mouth gaping. "Son, your injuries, how was it?". Civ moved his wrist back and forth. "I felt nothing. I'm feeling better now Father!". His Father looked at Civ with a slight frown. "Since you are feeling better, let's go to the shaman to check your condition ". Civ got up and followed his father.

When they exited the cave, Civ met with shocked tribesmen.

"Civ was okay!"

"He was badly injured 2 Sun days ago but now he's completely fine!"

"I saw Civ that day and his body was soaked in blood. But now he is walking like nothing happens!"

"Praise the Sun Goddess!"

Others were shocked but some were praising their God, which was named Sun Goddess. Civ looked around and noticed huts that were built with small branches and leaves around 3 - 4 feet in height. The tribesmen wear dried leaves to cover their private parts. The only people he sees wearing animal skin are his father and himself.

'This tribe is barely surviving'.

The tribe's general state is not good. They are all skinny and have a gloomy atmosphere because of the recent attack.

"Tribe leader! How was Civ?" one of their tribesmen greets his Father.

"Civ is feeling better now and we will go to the shaman to check his condition"

"Great then we wish for his good health". The guy bowed as Civ and his father continued to their destination.

When they arrived at the shaman's place, it was a hut that was 7 - 8 feet high. They got inside, his father bowed to greet the shaman. "Shaman Mashu we are here to ask you to check Civ's condition.". The shaman was praying when they arrived. She also was wearing animal skin but with a feathered hair-dress wrapped in the head. The shaman looked at the bowing tribe leader. Then looked Civ in the eyes. The Shaman's eyes narrowed. She asked, "Tribe leader Kivrah, are you sure your son's condition is better now? You should know with the injuries he sustained in the encounter, this will take 5 - 10 sun days right?".

"You are right but Civ is feeling better now so that's why I want you to check his condition".

"I understand. Civ come here and sit in front of me.".

Civ was startled and hurriedly walked in front of Shaman Mashu, then kneeled. She placed her hand on Civ's chest. But before they could say something, Shaman Mashu's head jolted. She faced the sky while her eyes rolled. Kivrah stood up with a serious face but didn't say anything.

After a moment of silence, Shaman Mashu regained her senses. Sweating and breathing heavily.

Kivrah kneeled next to Civ. "How was my son Shaman Mashu?".

The Shaman came to her senses when she heard the question and she looked Civ dead in the eye.

"Your Son? He is perfectly fine. But…"

"What is wrong Shaman?"

Shaman looked at Kivrah and smiled.

"I feel the presence of Sun Goddess blessings in your son".

Kivrah looked at Civ and hugged him again tightly.

"My Son! I really thank the Sun Goddess. I can't believe my son and our tribe are being blessed by the Sun Goddess.".

Civ was quite puzzled with the situation but he stayed silent and hugged back his Father.

Since everything was fine, they left Shamans Mashu's hut.

"Son, I still need to talk to the Shaman Mashu and help out our tribe, you can go back to the cave and rest. I'll return there once I'm done".

"I understand, I see you later Father."

Civ walks back to the cave.

While walking back to the cave, Civ sighs deeply.

'Looks like I was transmigrated into another world'.

His name back on earth was Marcos Ceazar. He was your ordinary salaryman that has a deep interest in learning human technologies. Marcos also aspires to be a survivalist but living on day-to-day work keeps his hobbies away.

One day, he was researching the new inter-galaxy exploration technology. He fell asleep at his computer desk and woke up in this world afterward.

'I guess, this is it?'

He already arrived in the cave. After looking around, he raised his head. The cave was not high so he climbed up to the little gap above and sat to get the complete view of their camp. He looked around and observed that the tribe was just starting to create their huts.

'Didn't I was asleep for 3 days? Why are they just building their huts?'. While pondering, someone called his name below.

"Civ why are you on top of the cave's opening? Are you sure your injuries are healed already?".

Civ looked to his side and answered

"Yes, I'm completely fine now."

"Come down let's go see Arsh".

Since he has nothing in mind for now it's better to do something.

He hopped down and replied.

"Sure!"

Based on Civ's memory, this is his friend, Horm. Horm's has a masculine and bulky figure. His height is around 6'0 ft. They are both coming of age now. But since time and date have not yet been introduced in this world, they just mention the stages of life. Baby, teenage, adult, and old. These are the terms they use to identify age. Horm is a jolly guy and always the one who starts conversations in the gathering ranks of teenagers.

Horm walked to Civ and worriedly asked him.

"How was your experience fighting those giants?"

Civ's memory is still hazy but from what he remembered, these giants were strong. They are using big wooden clubs as a weapon. They are not agile. But since Civ and the others are stalling for time, he faces the attack head-on. Underestimating the strength of these giants, his body was sent flying. Luckily he was picked up by his father and fled from those giants.

"They are very strong. I think twice or thrice as strong compared to us".

Horm body trembles and shakes his head

"I know you want to protect our tribe but sacrificing your body is not worth it.".

Civ looked to Horm and smiled,

"I know, but I hope those giants will not chase us again."

"Well, those giants might chase us again after Tuanir."

"Tuanir?"

"Oh right you might not remember it, the shaman mentioned that when you were sleeping. When the third moon appears in the sky, the giants will start moving. The giants are very hungry at that time and they will look for something to eat. They will follow us and chase us away."

"Why will they chase us if they are hungry?"

"The giants follow us because they know that we are near where the food is."

"What?!"

"I don't know the reason, but that is what the Shaman mentioned."

Looking back on what happened. The giants were really strong but there is something that he missed that might help them. Since Civ can't remember it, he decides to set aside it and think about it later.

Civ and Horm continue their conversation while walking to Arsh hut. But Civ's thoughts move to thinking about the Tuanir.

'Tuanir huh.'

According to his memory, Tuanir is when 3 moons are visible in the night sky. It was arranged like a triangle in the sky and like a full moon but 2 more times brighter than the full moon on Earth. It only happens every 30 to 45 sun days. The time and calendar are not a concept yet in this world. Their tribe can only count it with the help of the shaman who put stones in the altar. When this happens, the Giants start to look for them. Like wild animals, they are savages that trample their camp. Leaving injuries or worse casualties in the tribe and making them leave their camp.

Feeling helpless, there is nothing he can do. But only to observe and look for anything that he can use to protect himself first.

They arrived at Arsh hut and Horm called in their friend.

"Arsh come out! Me and Civ are here!"

Arsh comes out annoyed from the hut.

"I know cause I hear your loud mouth 3 huts away".

When their friend came out, it was a girl. Arsh has a slim body with a height of around 5'5 - 5'7 ft. and a pale skin.

Even though she was annoyed, she smiled and Arsh came near to Civ.

"Civ! I'm happy that you look better now. Horm might not said it to you, but he was the first one after your father to look for the Shaman. He was asked to save you and pray to the Sun Goddess to heal your wounds and he was- "

"Shhh be quiet Arsh. Ah right, Civ since Arsh already seen you. Maybe you can go back to the cave and have some rest. Arsh and I will look for fruits to eat."

Embarrassed, Horm intervened immediately and stopped Arsh from continuing what she was saying.

Annoyed, Arsh replied "What is wrong with you? After coming here he's going back again."

Civ replied, "No it's fine, since you are planning to look for food, might as well look for food together."

Both of his friends went silent and replied back to Civ at the same time "Are you sure?".

"Yeah, that will be fine. I'll be bored also if I'm just going to rest".

Arsh and Horm understood and both nodded.

"Okay, but let go back first to your father to ask permission".

They go to the tribe leader's hut and ask for permission to forage for food. His father's gaze at Civ was heavy.

"Are you sure Civ you are feeling better now?"

"Yes, I'm pretty sure Father."

His Father nodded and looked at his son's friends.

"Please make sure that if you notice something that you are not familiar. Do not hesitate to run back to camp alright?"

"Yes tribe leader". Both Arsh and Horm bowed to their tribe leader.

"Good, please be careful three of you, and make sure to return before the sun sets".

The trio bowed again and left the hut after.

They bring pointy sticks with the length of their height. This is their weapon to fight and fend off other predators. Civ knows that a stick is not enough to deflect any predators. Predators might attack them but this is the only one they have in the camp.

Since they need to start looking for food, he does not have enough time to think of a weapon that he can use.

After they left, Horm immediately asked.

"Where should we start looking?"

"I think Horm, we can go north. What do you think Civ?"

"I agree since we came from the south, we should start looking in the north of the camp."

After they agree on the plan, they start walking north.

Civ looked around and based on his estimate, this camp is around 25 - 50 people including children.

As for the children, most of them are skinny.

'This tribe is really struggling'.

Civ wants to create a solution but for now, it's only a plan.

The group was already 2 km away from the camp and they were able to gather berries.

"Looks like we gather enough berries for now. This is good for this evening." Horm mentioned it but still looking for other berries to gather.

Arsh looked at Civ "Hey Civ, do you want to go -"

"Shhh–" Civ stopped Arsh.

While the group was foraging, Civ detected something in the wild and he focused using his hearing sense.

"Did you hear that?"

"Hear what?" Horm asked

"Let's be quiet for a moment".

Civ slowly walked toward the sound he heard and the other two followed suit at the same pace.

After ten steps Civ sat down and tried to look around the trees in front and he saw it.

It was a deer.
