Riley's jaw dropped as cold chills spread through her body, slow and heavy. She could not believe what she had just heard. Since she woke up that morning, every question thrown at her by her bosses had somehow turned toward sex, as if her whole existence was being judged by it. It made her skin crawl and her chest feel tight.
She had been relieved when Alistair fainted earlier after asking about the red room. At least that nightmare had ended quickly. Or so she thought. Now Mr. Kol was asking her something just as personal, just as uncomfortable, and it felt worse because of how close he was to her.
Her face burned as she noticed the distant faces watching them, curious and amused. She kept her eyes low, wishing the ground would open up and swallow her.
