ALEXANDER'S POINT OF VIEW
I stood outside Mia's apartment building, my jaw clenched so tight it hurt. Every muscle in my body was coiled. Ready. Angry.
My sister was in the hospital because of this woman. And she dared to text Elena. To pretend she cared.
I was done with games. Done with pretending. Done with giving her the benefit of the doubt.
I walked into the building and took the elevator to the fourth floor. Didn't hesitate. Didn't second-guess. Just walked straight to her door and knocked.
Hard.
I heard movement inside. Footsteps approaching.
The door opened.
Mia stood there in a silk robe, her hair pulled back. She looked surprised to see me. Then her expression shifted to something softer. Welcoming.
"Alex? What are you doing here?"
"We need to talk."
"Of course. Come in."
She stepped aside. I walked into her apartment. Clean. Expensive. Everything is perfectly arranged. Just like her lies.
"Can I get you something? Coffee? Water?"
"No."
