One week.
It had been exactly one week since I walked out of my father's house. Seven days of waking up in this penthouse instead of my childhood bedroom. Seven days of silence where there used to be Ella's laughter, the housekeeper's morning greetings, and my father's presence in the study.
Seven days of trying to figure out who I was without my family.
I sat at my desk in the living room, laptop open in front of me, reviewing contracts for a new development project. Working from home had become my routine. I couldn't face going into the office yet, couldn't face the questions people would have. The penthouse was quiet, almost too quiet, but at least here I could think.
My phone sat next to my laptop, silent. I'd checked it three times in the last hour. No updates from the security team. No news about Elena's attack. Nothing.
