``Status´´ said Hayate, to see what would happen. This was either the most disturbingly real dream or reality, but Hayate wasn't ready to accept the latter.

As Hayate read the description, he suddenly knew why he was so calm and why his existential dread was gone. It was because of this skill. Did he just accept the fact that he died and reincarnated? Maybe? he feels like this process was missing something, but ultimately, he lets it go. he was fine, probably.

A gift from the system to newcomers. It allows the host to talk, write, and read all languages of the Multiverse; languages that are old and unused won't be known, as they are not needed.
That's a useful skill in Hayate's book. It would let him talk to the locals, and maybe let him understand a lot of things from their culture.

That's the basic appraise or identify skill most games have, the one that lets you know what items do. Hayate's mind was going into overdrive. This system was like an RPG game. Did that mean that he could grind skills until they reached crazy levels? Yeah, Hayate was a lazy student, a kendo practitioner, and overall a gamer, and gamers will do anything just for a cool-looking piece of armor or an overpowered skill.
Finally snapping out of his thoughs Hayate looked back to the silver-haired girl, and there was a black panel like the one of his status panel, but hayate couldnt see what was in there as the panel looked blank to him. she was mumbling something to herself before she moved and another small black panel appeared and tapped somehting on it before both her panels closed.
``You're still holding my hand.´´ said the girl while looking at Hayate. That made Hayate yank his hand away.
``Sorry, didn't mean to, but it's not every day you get to hold a pretty girl's hand,´´ said Hayate, and it was true, not every day does everyone get to hold hands with a pretty girl. Maybe it was the [4th wall] skill or just his brain that hadn't caught up with everything, but he felt pretty confident. Hayate's words prompted the girl to cover her face with the long sleeves of her blue Shihakushō, but it wasn't embarrassment that made her do that confirmed by what sounded like barely contained laughter.
``pffft- you think I'm a girl? What could have made you think that.´´ said the silver-haired girl-no-guy. While trying not to double down laughing and failing miserably. Meanwhile, the guy was having a laughing fit, and Hayate's mind had stopped working.

Lucius Aurelian
Lucius was trying not to fall into the sand and failing miserably at doing so. Did he seriously mistake me for a girl? What could have given him that impression? The curse? Was the curse really that effective? Will everyone he meets think he is a girl? Those are problems he'll resolve when he gets to it. For now, he has to deal with teaching the newbie how the basics work and finding where they are.
``So, wheeze, what are your stats, newbie?´´ said Lucius, standing up and shaking off his hand from his clothes and face.
``For comparison, 5 is average human-G-grade human, 10 is peak, and if you have an 11 or more, congratulations, you're special. Also, ask the system where we are´´ said Lucius while waving a hand in front of the black haired guy's face, trying to wake him up from whatever thoughts had them dissociating.
``Huh? What?, Oh yeah, my stats are 9 in strength, endurance, agility, and wisdom, 8 in vitality, defence, and willpower, 10 in perception, and 7 in intelligence. Why do I have to tell you this? And what do you mean ''ask the system'', where are we?.´´ said the black haired guy after snapping out of his thoughts. Lucius was questioning himself whether he was such a goofball in his first run.
``Because I need to know what your baseline is before I start planning how to go about this run, before I forget to ask, what's your name, newbie? Just ask the system you're in newbie mode, it will give you info if you ask, as long as it's basic info. I'm Lucius, by the way.´´ lucius was raking his mind trying to remember every show with a desert episode he had watched, but there were so many he couldn't pinpoint it, and they were in a desert, so no real landmarks to identify.
``So do I have to just say System, where are we, and it will suddenly answer?.´´ and as he said it, a black panel appeared in front of him. God, did Lucius miss newbie mode and getting answers to his random questions?
[One piece, Alabasta Island, 10 miles northwest of Yuba]
``Huh, so I did just have to ask. I'm hayate, hayate takeda. It says we are in Alabasta near Yuba, what do you mean by planning?´´ said the black haired guy, now identified as Hayate. A million ideas and esenes appeared in Lucius' mind, esenes about a ragtag group of pirates traveling the seas in search of the legendary One Piece.
``Ask at what time we were put in here, time in history. And we need to get to Yuba.´´ For Lucius, this was an incredible opportunity, he wanted to go to Skypiea and steal Enel's ship because why shouldn't he want a flying ship and the ton of gold in said ship?.
``Why is that important? Does something important happen here? Wait, does the world end here?.´´ Lucius looked at Hayate like he had just said the dumbest thing ever said in human history, partly because he did and partly because they needed to know how far the story had advanced to plan accordingly.
``I'm going to forget you said that because it was the dumbest thing I have ever heard, just ask because we need to get to level 25 to at least be on par with normal humans in this world, yeah, humans in this world are stronger than in other universes, so we are weak.´´ Lucius was already formulating paths to go about his class and how to get into the Straw Hats crew, because why not join the chaos party and just join in the shenanigans of the world? The only problem would be Hayate; Lucius couldn't let the newbie alone, and he didn't know if Hayate would be on board to create chaos with the most wanted crew this sea would see.
``Fine, fine, I'll ask. But why level 25 in specific?´´ lucius saw another little black panel opening in front of Hayate after he mumbled something.
``Because that is the start of F-grade, the minimum grade of humans here.´´
[Year 1520, January. Exactly 2 years and 2 months before the start of the story.]
``The system says we are in January of 1520, its kinda helpful to just ask for info and get it. And how do we level up? I have no class and no skills or even a weapon.´´
``We'll get to that when it becomes important. Also, don't get too used to it once you're no longer a newbie, it's gone. Anyway, we need to get going before it becomes late.´´
``I´m pretty sure it's important right now, and go where? We have no money and no things to sell, and you think people are just going to not suspect the random outsiders?´´
``Don´t worry about it, just ask about the direction to Yuba, and let's get going because it's going to take hours, and I don't wanna walk in the cold night of the desert.´´
``Do you have a plan? We are not going to just steal, right? right?.´´ Lucius smirked at that comment about stealing. He would never steal from honest people. He was reckless and dumb, not a villain, he still needed to get the basic frameworks for whatever type of path he was going to go with his class. And what profession would he choose to complement his class? And teaching the newbie about how classes, even if he only knew the basics of all of them except caster, but he only went chronomancer.
