Three days had passed since the test, and Seiko's popularity was growing by the day.
That morning, as he walked toward his usual class, he was met by Fumiko and an elderly man.
Fumiko: "Here he is, young master Seiko! They call him 'the Sacred Knight of the Future,' sir."
The elderly man studied Seiko carefully.
Elderly Man: "Greetings, young man. I am Uryu de Kant, the Head Mage of Fire. You may call me Kant for short."
Seiko wasn't particularly interested in mages, but he could feel the powerful mana radiating from this man.
Seiko: "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Kant." (smiling)
Kant: "I do not speak much, so I'll get straight to the point. I've seen your performance in the level assessment test. From what I observed, you can use all types of magic, and you aspire to become a Sacred Knight. However, our academy only trains mages."
Seiko felt a pang of disappointment, but he didn't lose hope and asked:
Seiko: "Then… is there no chance for me to become a Sacred Knight?"
Kant: "Of course there is. But you must prove it to me and to the Holy Union."
Seiko didn't quite understand how or what he needed to prove. For a moment, the two of them simply stared at each other.
Finally, unable to hold back, he asked:
Seiko: "So… how do I prove it?"
Kant replied calmly:
Kant: "Defeat me."
