Chapter 9 - Alexander's Plan

Alexander sat back relaxed on his chair, swirling the wine in his golden goblet while listening to Alfred reports on the happenings in the city, taking short sips in-between.

Not to lie his plan was working better than he hoped… he wanted to soe as much discord among the nobles and power holders in the city as possible while he gained Kingdom Points.

However, he didn't expect one of the major player's grandchildren to be killed as well.

That made it even better when paired with the captive sitting on the other side of his desk.

"Victor, can Imperial Treasurer be trusted?" Alexander asked once Alfred was done with his report.

Victor thought and paused for a moment thinking, "While Count Thompson is on the Loyalist faction, there is a chance of him defecting if a minor inconvenience occurs."

Alexander nodded, Alfred needed a place to store the loots, while it current position was safe it wouldn't remain so for long, not to mention he required it to be in the treasury for him to work on some of his plans.

As for putting it somewhere else… that was never going to happen, he wouldn't trust anyone with his money… never.

'Replacing him would have a negative effect since he is technically on my side, killing him secretly would also have a negative effect… we would have to hunt the killer, which they would never find because… well it me, which would also affect what ever trust the rest of his allies had in the court.' Alexander sighed, 'Truly a dilemma.'

While he did have the system it didn't make him instantly given all the power he needed… Now he had 2 Experts on his side… the Reus had 3 not to mention the other powers in the city.

'Secure his loyalty it is.'

"Bring Count Thompson to me." Alexander ordered Captain Victor.

"Yes, your Majesty." Captain Victor bowed before leaving.

Alexander glanced down at his drink and sighed, no matter how much he drank, he did not feel a thing thanks to the Poison Resistance.

It seemed like anything foreign without positive benefit was immediately classified as poison.

'I guess I will have to have something stronger to feel anything but still… this wine tastes so good.' Alexander thought before shifting his attention back to Jackson.

Still swirling his wine, he pulled Jackson's journal with his other hands and flipped through the pages… while he couldn't understand most of the words in it, the ones he could was organised.

"Mister Jackson, I have to say your talent for information collection and arrangement is superb." Alexander said as he glanced up at him.

Not daring to meet the emperor's eyes, Jackson bowed lower, "Thank you for your compliment your Majesty."

'With everything I have heard today, am I even going to survive this encounter.' Jackson silently cried.

"I happen to need a bookkeeper to help me with all these nonsensical scrolls," Alexander said as he nodded towards the documents scattered on the ground.

"Now should you succeed in the task I have given to you… you become my assistant," Alexander paused to allow his words to sink in, "however should you fail, I don't have to spell what would happen to you now do I?"

Jackson immediately jumped from his seat unto his knees with his forehead touching the ground.

"Yes, your Majesty, Your wish is my command." Jackson shouted… a lifeboat had finally been granted to him and there was no way he wouldn't do everything he could to grab unto it.

"Mister Jackson, wait outside while I speak to Alfred." Alexander order.

"Yes, your Majesty." Jackson immediately got up and walked out of the office closing the door behind him.

Alexander immediately summoned 12 Shadowbound Reavers spending 1200 Kingdom Points.

"Ten of them shall go with you back to your base." Alexander said, "But only you should confront the Leader of Argus Giant Eyes."

"And be careful, they have been able to stay secret all this time for a reason." Alexander continued.

"Yes, Your Majesty." Alfred bowed before leading 10 of, grabbing Jackson's notebook on his way out.

Sending the order, the remaining two vanished from his sight, Alexander finally decided what to do with the rest of his Kingdom Points.

[You have spent 10 Kingdom Points to improve your martial rank by one minor rank]

[You have spent 10 Kingdom Points to improve your martial rank by one minor rank]

And the notification repeated itself 5 more times before it finally changed.

[You have reached the limit of Adept Rank]

[You require 100 Kingdom Points to advance further]

'It cost 100 Kingdom Points to summon one level 5 Intermediate Ranked assassin and now it cost me the same to advance one rank.' Alexander sighed before deciding to go on with it.

[You have spent 100 Kingdom Points to improve your martial rank by one major realm]

[Congratulations on stepping into the Intermediate martial realm]

"Hmmmmmmmmm…" Alexander closed his eyes and took a deep breath as the feeling of strength coursed through him before finally opening his eyes.

'This feeling his truly intoxicating.' He thought, 'but… the other reason I am in this office.'

Alexander dropped his wine goblet on the table before spinning his chair 180 degrees.

Glancing at the empty wall behind him, Alexander tried to bite his hands to draw blood, but nothing happened.

'Well, I guess benefit of improved talents.' Alexander smiled pleased, "One of your daggers please."

He spoke with his left palm stretched out, a dagger appeared there which he used to make a small slice.

He dropped the dagger and placed his bloodied hand on the wall.

A small section opened before him, two booklets laid there.

Ignoring the one named Valekar Imperial Flame Martial Technique, he grabbed the other one.

[Do you wish to spend 100 Kingdom Points to learn 'Valekar Imperial Flame Mana Technique'?]

[Yes] [No]

'Yes'

Another 100 Kingdom Points vanished.

[Technique successfully learnt]

Once the technique was successfully, Alexander placed the book back and spun around in his chair and as he did the wall returned to normal.

'Now, for my Mana rank."

[You have spent 1 Kingdom Points to improve your mana rank by one minor rank]
