Lucian remained silent, leaning against the door, his arms crossed over his chest and his gaze fixed on the floor. There was something in the echo of the slamming door that still resonated in his mind, something that made him feel... uneasy. But it wasn't the echo that disturbed him. It was her. Eliza. That damned woman who had burst into his life with the force of a storm and now refused to leave his thoughts.
"What the hell are you doing?" growled a deep, mocking voice inside his head.
Lucian closed his eyes instantly, knowing perfectly well who it was.
"Shut up, Luca," he replied in a low tone but loaded with irritation.
The wolf inside him let out a guttural laugh, a mixture of mockery and defiance.
"Shut up? Oh, no, no, no. This is too good to let pass," Luca retorted. "What was that in there? A desperate alpha male show? Because let me tell you, friend, you looked more like a puppy whining for attention."
