Chapter 4 - (ch4)first blood

"Seems like my little moggy is both succeeding and failing. Good work so far!"

Mohg could already feel the headache building up at the voice echoing in his head. "Glad someone enjoyed what's happening to me. What do you want?"

"Oh nothing major, just thought I'd give you a push in the right direction. For starters, as the new lord of blood, you can control it-even if it's not yours."

" Ok? And how does that help me now?"

"I thought you were smarter then that. Blood is a resource of life essence. Aren't you tired and drained right now?"

Mohg immediately caught on to what the outer god meant- and he still didn't like it. "You want me to drink his blood!?" The giggling was all the confirmation needed.

Now Mohg had a choice: to either take the advice and siphon the blood to turn into his own strength, at the cost of his humanity down the line. Or, to walk away from it now, gritting his teeth through the weakness.

"It's too late to turn back now. Here goes." With great hesitation, Mohg lifts the body close, the neck inches from his sharpened fangs. With a bite, Mohg drank the red nectar, sealing his fate as the outer god's servant. It was… surprisingly refreshing. Strength coursing through his body, Mohg rips the chain from his ankle, the metal clinging as it is dropped.

"Oh by the way, you only had to dip your fingers in to absorb the blood. But your way is better! Look at that wound, so large and dazzling! Ohohohoh!"

Mohg had to hold back from spitting the blood, as it was still a way to recover his strength "This lady really is crazy!" The last drops of blood were soon drained away, leaving behind a brittle husk that seemed ready to blow away at the slightest gust.

The goddess' voice rang in his head once more "now that you have recovered, I have two gifts for you! One is the book of sigils. This is how you will curse those that carry blood within them, which should be almost every living thing." From a dried patch of blood that Mohg hadn't got to absorb, a book had appeared, red cover shining despite the ancient pages.

Mohg took the book into his arms, his heart now racing. Who doesn't dream to have more power at their fingertips? "So what's the other gift?"

"Uh, uh, uh, I can't just give you this one. Your gonna have to find it. I'll give you a hint though, it's buried beneath a city called 'Musutafu', I believe it was.

"Wait, I'm somewhere in Japan!? How am I supposed to understand anyone!"

"Oh don't worry, you'll understand them, blood is a lot stronger than you think. But enough talk, those sigils won't understand themselves!"

Mohg didn't need to be told twice. Opening the book he skimmed a bit to get a broad understanding before diving deep. The confusion began settling in after having noticed a detail. "Aren't there supposed to be, you know..images or symbols?"

"I never said those were part of it. The book tells you how to make your own, not use existing ones. I need followers that can be flexible, not simpletons who just wave their hands while saying words."
