Chapter 3 - 3: A product of the times

On Mount Akina in Shells Town,

"Kyle, is this how Observation Haki is trained?"

Gon touched the fresh, hot bump on his head, wincing in pain.

Kyle gently tapped his palm with the wooden stick he held, smiling. "That's right. Haki is divided into three types: Observation Haki, Armament Haki, and Haoshoku. The first two can be mastered through training, but Haoshoku can only be awakened by those with the disposition of a king."

Kyle's ability, "Book of Resonance," was quite special—it could only generate resonance after signing a contract and taking the other party to another world.

In Hunter World, he couldn't share Gon's training results.

Each world had its unique rule system, and his ability happened to compensate for this.

As long as a contract was signed to go to another world, the contractor would gain a body corresponding to the natives of that world, allowing them to cultivate Haki and Nen Ability.

This was why Kyle brought Gon to this mountain to train Observation Haki.

Observation Haki and the "En" of Hunter World had a similar effect, both greatly enhancing perception.

"Observation Haki is a sensory ability," Kyle explained. "It allows you to perceive danger even when you can't see, and thus avoid it in time."

"We only have three days. We must learn to dodge my basic attacks within this period."

Gon touched the bump on his head, and thinking of the upcoming battle with Hisoka, his eyes became firm again.

Kyle blindfolded Gon and began the "special training" once more.

Each time the wooden stick fell, Gon's pain and insights were simultaneously transmitted to Kyle.

Training Gon was like training himself, and all the physical pain was borne by Gon—this made Kyle swing the stick with an almost fanatical passion.

He completely disregarded Gon's suffering.

Only extreme pressure could lead to faster comprehension of Observation Haki.

Gon's talent was astonishing.

In the first hour, he could only occasionally dodge by instinct, taking countless blows.

But through 'resonance,' Kyle could clearly feel Gon's perception slowly spreading like a spiderweb, becoming increasingly sensitive to air currents and killing intent (attack intention).

Finally, after countless times the stick's wind swept by, Gon's head instinctively tilted, and the wooden stick grazed his ear—he completely dodged it for the first time!

This was followed by the second time, the third time… He seemed to finally be able to sense the trajectory of the attacks, and began to easily dodge Kyle's deliberately slowed normal attacks.

And Kyle, sensing Gon's progress through resonance, immediately adjusted his attack speed, gradually increasing the training difficulty…

Inside the room at Heaven's Arena,

Killua cultivated his Nen Ability while occasionally glancing at where Kyle was activating his ability.

"Didn't Kyle say he'd be back on the third day?"

Just as he had doubts, the space in the room suddenly began to fluctuate, and a light curtain slowly formed.

Kyle and Gon stumbled out of the light curtain.

Kyle's face was pale, clearly having expended a great deal of energy; Gon, though bearing some scars, had unusually bright eyes.

"Gon!" Killua immediately rushed forward. "What was that other world like?"

Other worlds—a concept usually only found in novels—actually existed, pushing Killua's curiosity to its peak.

"It was amazing!"

Gon said excitedly, "There's a power system called Devil Fruit and Haki there. Although it's different from our Nen, it's essentially very similar."

"Haki? Devil Fruit? Tell me more!"

Killua's eyes sparkled, completely oblivious to Kyle's pale face at the moment.

Kyle could only silently walk to the sofa and begin to recover his expended Nen.

Kyle closed his eyes to meditate, finding that although the consumption was still immense this time, his total Nen had significantly increased compared to before.

It seemed that each time he opened the portal, it was like undergoing extreme training, which could increase his total Nen capacity.

"Is this Observation Haki?"

Killua stood behind Gon, tentatively launching an attack, but Gon, as if having eyes in the back of his head, easily dodged the assault.

"That's right, it can sense your attack intent. Even without using your eyes, you can perceive the attack trajectory through air currents," Gon said proudly.

Killua's lips curved slightly, and his attack speed suddenly increased by three or four times. Although Gon could sense the attack, his body couldn't react in time and he was punched and sent flying into the wall.

"Killua!" Gon jumped up, covering his nose and chasing after him, and the two immediately got into a playful brawl.

Kyle had intended to recover quietly, but flying pillows occasionally hit him.

After enduring it three or four times, he could no longer hold back and directly joined the fray.

When the three of them were tired from fighting and collapsed on the ground, Killua turned his head and looked at Kyle with a serious expression: "Kyle, I want to sign a contract with you too."

Kyle looked at Killua and wasn't surprised.

The desire to explore the unknown was human nature, especially for a youth like Killua.

"Really?" Surprise flashed in Kyle's eyes.

After Killua made his request, there was actually a hint of apprehension in his heart.

He came from a family of assassins, and his nerves were very sensitive; he had once questioned Kyle.

However, the genuine surprise in Kyle's eyes, like sunlight, dispelled his small unease.

This unreserved acceptance warmed Killua's heart, and he nodded solemnly: "Mm."

"That's great, you'll be the third member of my pirate crew," Kyle said with a smile.

"Pirate crew? Kyle, you want to become a pirate?" Killua was a bit surprised.

"That's right, pirates are very common in that other world, and there are many, many monsters among them. From what I understand, those monsters are all gathered in a place called the New World."

"New World?" Killua asked curiously.

"Mm, there are four pirate crews with the strongest forces there, known as the Four Emperors."

Hearing Kyle say this, Killua immediately understood what was going on and said with a serious expression, "Are the Four Emperors very strong?"

"Of course, they all possess the disposition of a king, and three of them are Devil Fruit users."

"If we convert our Nen into their Haki, their Nen capacity would probably be at the level of a million or more."

"A million or more?! That's a monstrous level of existence…"

Killua's pupils contracted slightly.

As a genius of the Zoldyck family, he understood the terrifying gap this number represented better than Gon.

But the shock lasted only an instant, and his eyes immediately became sharp and solemn, and he began to rapidly analyze the power gap between them and the enemy.

Kyle's serious expression shifted again, and he said confidently, "But we will definitely surpass them."

Killua looked at Kyle's confident smile and didn't refute him.

After all, Kyle's ability could share their training results; once there were more people in the crew, all the training results from the other world would be superimposed onto Kyle alone, and Kyle would undoubtedly become stronger quickly.

Surpassing those monsters was only a matter of time.

Moreover, he was quite confident in his own talent; since he could cultivate Haki, he was confident he would definitely not lose to the natives.

"I'm already looking forward to it."

"There are still 14 days until Gon's fight with Hisoka. Should we go for a trip? I also want to train Observation Haki."

Killua naturally didn't want to fall behind. Gon's method of sensing just now was completely different from his pure reliance on assassin's intuition for dodging.

"My ability has a three-day cooldown, so I'll have to wait three days to activate it again," Kyle said helplessly.

"Kyle, have you ever thought about us buying a ship?" Killua said excitedly, stroking his chin.

Hearing Killua say this, Kyle shook his head and gave a wry smile: "That's hard to do. I can't take such a large ship with me."

Just as Kyle was feeling helpless, he suddenly thought of someone—Fukurou of the Shadow Beasts.

His ability, "Convenient Large Wrapping Cloth," could shrink large objects.

As long as he found him, he could use his ability to bring the high-tech ship he bought to the Pirate World.

That would undoubtedly become a product of a new era!
