Chapter 2 - PAGE 2

"Try not to put your hand outside when the elevator is moving." Said Shi Ming

They rode down for about a while, going down about six or seven feet into the before they reached the first basement floor. The floor didn't have a door, this allowed him to see into the floor without stepping out of the elevator. Gabriel had been to the basement floor of the library once or twice during his past visits, his status made it so that he could visit to satiate his curiosity and of course he had used the stairway because the only working elevator did not have buttons for the basement floor or so he had thought. What Gabriel saw in the basement floor was a straight corridor covered in white tiles, the whole length of the corridor was empty and plain devoid of anything but doors and ancient suits of armor stacked like real guards' side by side and parallel to each other and very menacing looking. To Gabriel's surprise, the elevator did not stop but continued downward, this time they went down for a long time, checking his mobile phone it had taken at most five minutes to reach the first basement floor but this time ten minutes later they were still going and the next basement floor was nowhere in sight, by this point Gabriel's legs were burning from standing for too long. He could have found a corner to sit down when the pain first began but next to him Shi Ming stood all peachy, not a sign of strain and after what happened upstairs with the elevator, well Gabriel thought 'yeah, no!' he used the pain to fuel his glare, he made sure Shi Ming got the message, this was war. Stepping out of the elevator, after what felt like an hour later but was actually only twenty minutes later, they stepped into an identical white corridor with similar stacked empty armor. They walked through the corridor before stopping somewhere at the middle of the hall, two suits of armor stood side by side on this patch of the wall as well. Shi Ming placed his hand on the wall, on a spot not dissimilar to any other spot on the wall and the whole patch of wall gave way.

In the wall, there was a room with the same white sterilized tiles as the rest of the basement and, in the room, sat two men legs crossed on the floor playing cards. These men wore matching purple and white robes with white boots, exactly like the ones worn by students. Looking closely Gabriel could spot Samsara's logo, the symbol of a purple butterfly hovering over a white flower stalk present on the left part of their bosom over their heart. One was older than the other, about middle age maybe forty or forty-five, if he were to estimate by face, he was shorter than the other younger man but he filled out his robe, making up for his lack in height with bulging muscles. The other man was leaner and taller, with a smooth face, he looked twenty-five maybe thirty years of age by face but Gabriel knew that looks could be deceiving especially in an 'Academy'.

"Hello, uncle Wei, brother Mu" Shi Ming addressed the two men.

The older man reacted to first to Shi Ming's greetings, he had a head of shoulder length hair, streaks of grey could be seen even on his thin moustache grew down the sides of his mouth and joined with a goatee on his chin, the sides of his cheeks were smooth devoid of hair.

"Hello nephew, what brings you down here this time? I hope it is not for another game of three kingdoms, I might not need much money now, rascal! but I still plan to get married at some point in my life, I can't waste it all gambling with you." Shi Wei stood walking towards them, the biggest smile on his face

"Ha-ha, uncle Wei don't be like that, I allow you to win sometimes." Shi Ming said. Shi Wei grumbled something beneath his breathe but Shi Ming just continued "This is my friend I was telling you about. I wanted to show him the sacred oasis." Shi Ming pointed to Gabriel.

"Is he the one? Nobunaga's son?" Uncle Wei asked narrowing his eyes
